Passed away peacefully on September 26, 2017. Survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Barb; daughters, Linda (Don) Lockery, Kathy (Mike) Edgell & Denise (Ben) Mergens; sons, John (Terry) & Jeff (Kelly); grandchildren, Erika Lockery, Emily Kelly, Nikki Mehus, Jaime Beyersdorf, Theresa Mergens, Megan Mergens, Sam Mergens, Kristen Mertens, Lindsey Mertens, Amanda Mertens, Kaylee Mertens, Abigail Mertens; 5 great-grandchildren. John was a 1956 graduate of Cretin High School. John retired from Northwest Airlines in 1997 after 36 years of service, he began his career as an aircraft mechanic and by the time of his retirement was a Director in aircraft maintenance. John became an Aviation Safety Inspector at the Federal Aviation Administration in 1997 and retired in 2004. John also served as a volunteer fireman for 22 years with the IGH Fire Department from 1971 until 1993. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Monday, October 2nd, at the Church of St. Patrick, 3535 72nd St., Inver Grove Heights. Visitation 4-8 PM Sunday at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave. IGH. Also 9-10 AM prior to Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
