Age 83, died peacefully on October 1st, surrounded by her loving and closest family and a family friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Muriel and Walter Schaberg.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Bob, of almost 62 years of laughter, travel and cabin memories. She leaves behind her daughter, Lisa (Tom) Fahy and her son, Rob (Julie) Thomas. She was a loving grandmother to two beautiful granddaughters, Carissa and Cailynn. She is also survived by her siblings Dede (Jim) Notsch, Missi (Jack) Fischbach, and Bill (Cindy) Schaberg.

Born in St. Paul and raised in St. Paul and Mendota Heights, she went to college at St. Cloud State. She married Bob in 1964 and became a stay at home mom to Lisa and Rob. She was a loving mother who cared deeply for her children and many, many pets. With her social and happy personality, Lisa nicknamed her “Social Cindy”. She loved travelling, which included Cancun, Isla Mujeres, Hawaii, Florida, California, Arizona, including the Grand Canyon, and various southern states.

Later in life, she assisted Bob in the bookkeeping of his TV repair business, then went back to school and became a medical secretary for Southview Acres Health Care Center, and then Woodwinds Hospital.

With the birth of her granddaughters, she quit Woodwinds Hospital in 2002 and became a fulltime daycare provider for Carissa and Cailynn. She thoroughly enjoyed being a loving grandmother, helping raise them to be the beautiful and loving ladies they are.

She and Bob purchased lakeshore property in Hayward, Wisconsin in 1992 and built a cabin. They eventually moved there fulltime after Carissa and Cailynn started grade school fulltime. She and Bob truly enjoyed their years there watching all the wildlife, fishing, going for walks, boating and enjoying the peaceful nature and joy their cabin brought.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the compassionate and loving staff at Oak Park Senior Living and St. Croix Hospice Care. Hospice nurse, Amber, was extraordinary in her care of mom, always making sure she was comfortable and happy, including doing her nails and hair, providing music therapy and constant communication with Lisa and Rob regarding her care and status through her final moments.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, October 22 at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights. Visitation 10:00 am-11:00 am, Service 11:00 am -12:00 pm.
