Passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024.
Born December 27, 1928, in Minneapolis to Werner and Ida (Schwartz) Hesse, Warren was raised in St. Paul and graduated from Monroe High School in 1946. Warren worked as a welder before being drafted into the Army in 1950 and completed his basic training at Fort Baker in San Francisco. As a member of the 551st Engineer Base Survey Co., he helped conduct geological surveys in the Alaskan wilderness. After the Army, Warren passed the civil service exam and began a long career with the US Postal Service, working the mail car on regional trains (he loved trains) and eventually working at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul airport and retiring in 1989. Warren also held concurrent part-time jobs: as a Met Center parking lot attendant in Bloomington and school bus driver. He was a long-time resident of South St. Paul and resided in Lilydale the last 8 years. Throughout his life, Warren enjoyed the Twin Cities, driving to places near and far, caring for people and pets, following Minnesota sports teams, and tracking news and politics. He was friendly, talkative, and always had a smile and greeting for those he came in contact with. Warren was very devoted and loyal to his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Warren is preceded in death by his parents, brother Lowell, sister Lucille Anderson, and loving long-time sweetheart Connie Martinez.
Warren is survived by nephews Mark Hesse (Lori) and John Hesse, and grandnephews Elliott and Max. Warren is also survived by Connie’s loving family including daughter Renee and son Kurt; grandchildren Todd (Kris), Tamara (Mike), Chad, Anna-Marie (Wade); as well as the kids in the family, who will miss their “Grandpa Warren.”

Graveside Service 11 am Saturday, November 9th at Elmhurst Cemetery, 1510 Dale St. N., St. Paul.
