Roger Dean Umbreit, born in St. Paul, MN on May 3, 1947 to Robert and Alma Umbreit, passed away peacefully after a long term illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alma; brother, Ronnie; sisters, Nancy and Shirley; sons, Dustin and Jeff. Roger dedicated himself to various workplace roles over the years, until a fall resulted in a permanent back injury.
He is survived by Susan Hutchins, his beloved partner and love of his life of 30 years; Susan’s daughters, Jill Warner (Michael), Jennifer Christensen and Jessa Hutchins (Jon); 6 grandchildren, Chase, Riley, Emmie, Jack, Henry and Greta; 2 step-daughters, Patti and Debbie; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Those who knew Roger appreciated his good natured humor, warm smile and the impact he had on others. Roger enjoyed the past few summers where he spent quality time with family in Chetek, WI on Fish Lake. We take comfort in knowing that Roger’s legacy of love and kindness will be held in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family wants to sincerely thank Martin Luther Manor and Minnesota Hospice for their care, empathy and passion they gave Roger during his stay with them.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00 am -2:00 pm, Monday, September 1st, with a time of sharing at 12:00 noon, at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights. Private burial at Roselawn Cemetery.
