Dennis loved to collect horses, Dept. 56 Christmas houses, playing table tennis, going fishing and caring for fish in aquariums. He had a love of Special Olympics, especially floor hockey which he watched as his son Henry played. Dennis also competed in unified doubles bowling and horseshoes with Henry. Dennis also loved watching his son, Eric, play basketball & bowling. Dennis & Eric also enjoyed watching sports and the classics on TV together.
Dennis was a Sponsor Chairperson for the West St. Paul Horseshoe Club and Junior Horseshoe Club for many years. He was also a coach for Special Olympics Table Tennis.
Dennis’ family had a cabin up on Green Lake where he, Jeanette and the boys used to go often. The family loved to go out on the boat and see who could catch the biggest fish.
Dennis would often poke fun at Jeanette’s driving. Especially about the time when she was learning to drive and hit the corner of the family barn. Because of the little mishap, the family cow was butchered on Easter Sunday.
Dennis’ son, Eric, could not understand why Dennis and Jeanette called them, “their boys”. Dennis and Jeanette told them, “You are our boys & always will be, even if you’re grown up.”
Besides Dennis love for his family, his passion was baking. Dennis made his living as a baker, most recently, making donuts for Golden Good Donuts.
