Age 82 of Inver Grove Heights, MN
Passed away peacefully on May 22, 2021, surrounded by his family. Preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Stella Henke; sister, Julia Affeldt. Survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Barbara; son, Brian (Sarah) of Lake Elmo, MN and daughter, Janelle (Fraser) Walsh of Glastonbury, CT. He had four grandchildren, Bennett and Blake Henke and Jaelyn and Trey Walsh, who were the highlights of his life. John was born in Minneapolis, graduated from Edison High School, and attended the University of Minnesota. After serving in the Army for two years, he worked in the banking industry for 30 years and eventually founded his own business, All In One in Eagan. He was regularly frustrated by his beloved Vikings and his golf game. John was a devoted family man and took great joy in watching his grandchildren play sports. A founding member of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church and a long-time member of the ROMEOs, he was an avid reader, a loyal servant of God and dedicated many hours to creating amazing model trains, designing cork creations and fixing things around the house. With a great sense of humor, his kind heart and ready smile, he was always up for an adventure or a round of bridge. John lived his life always putting others ahead of himself and will be sorely missed by many. Visitation at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave, Inver Grove Heights, Friday, June 11 from 1-3 PM with a time of sharing at 2:30.
