It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister and Friend, Karen Margaret (Olson) Glander. She left us peacefully on Tuesday June 30, 2026. Karen, 80, from Burnsville, MN. was currently in care at Apple Valley Village Care Center.
Karen was born in Minneapolis, MN on July 20, 1945. She was the oldest of 3 children of Melvin Olson and Elaine (Hank) Olson. Prior to marriage she attended Mankato State University. Karen shared her creative nature both in the Home as a Homemaker and outside the home in a Bakery, Embroidery Shop and as a Volunteer. Her personal passion was Art. She loved painting, drawing, sewing and creating special greeting cards for friends and family. She generously gave years to volunteering at the school, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Ridges Hospital. She will be remembered most for her commitment and devotion to her Husband, Family, Friends and Catholic Faith.
She is survived by her loving Husband of 60 years James L. Glander, her Son Timothy Glander (Fiance’ Deborah), Her Daughter Melissa MacFarland, Sister Susan Brekke, Brother Gregg Olson (Wife Darcy), Grandson Patrick Glander (Wife Jessica, Son Oliver), Granddaughter Kelly Sexton (Husband Travis, Daughters Claire, Jade and Hannah). She was predeceased in death by her Parents Melvin Olson, Elaine (Hank) Olson and her son Louie Glander (died shortly after birth).
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday July 7, 2026 at 10:30 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4625 W.125th St. Savage, MN. Visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:30 am at the church.
