Being a committed Catholic – believing that Jesus was the light and the way. A verse she quoted to Father Martin and those in the room at Regina Care Center
Doing things outdoors – hanging clothes, taking care of her plants and flowers, or just sitting on the deck. She loved the squirrel that she hand fed and that would crawl up on her lap or shoulder. She never wore a pair of shoes unless she had to.
Reading – the Bible, educational books, medical information and self help books. We often called her “Dr. Mom”! When she could no longer read she continued her enjoyment of reading with the use of audio books.
Learning – while she only completed the 8th grade, her learning never stopped. Her knowledge amazed all, and those around her would seek out her advice.
Sound of the ocean – She recorded the ocean sound while on a trip to Florida. Her granddaughter, Erin, shared the sound of the ocean with her from Jamaica and Hawaii.
Minnesota State Fair – mini donuts and the Village for those great finds that she just couldn’t pass up.
Soap Operas – especially As the World Turns, All My Children, The Young and the Restless and the Guiding Light
Music – a fan of Gene Pitney, Sandy Nelson, and polka music.
Peanut M&M’s – even when she was watching her diet.
