Sharon Ann Krech, loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend, age 81, died peacefully on September 11, 2023.  Sharon was born April 12, 1942 to Frank and Mabel Pinney in Elgin, Iowa, the youngest of four daughters.  She graduated from John Marshall High School in Rochester, Minnesota and went on to attend Macalester College and then graduated from the University of Minnesota.  At Macalester she met her best friend and soul mate, Roger Krech, whom she married in 1961.  They were happily married for 61 years.  She was devoted to Roger and their two sons, Eric (Erin) and John (Jackie); 6 grandchildren, Justin (Kathryn), Collin (Brice), Heather, Sydney, Ethan and Ryan; 7 great-grandchildren, Erica, Carter, Anson, Johanna, Penelope, Mark and Silas. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Jeannette Krech and brother-in-law, Ronald Freiling as well as many dear nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; dear sisters, Patricia, Gerry and Janice.

She loved art, especially painting and drawing and shared this appreciation with her grandchildren.  She was a member of the Minnesota Artist Association.  Her work can be found in many collections and homes.  Sharon was also an avid reader, music lover and gardener, taking great pride in her flower gardens.  She was a member of the Minnesota State Horticulture Society and the University of Minnesota Alumni Association.  She enjoyed many years of travelling with Roger while collecting art and antiques from across the country.  She especially loved the North Shore, the Florida beaches and the desert area around Scottsdale, Arizona.  For many years, she joined her friends every Friday for lunch and ‘treasure hunting’.  She had great compassion and kindness for animals and supported their causes.  Most of all, she was devoted to her family and friends and especially loved the Holidays and Birthdays by sharing her special Spritz cookies and caramels.  Her greatest wish for her children and grandchildren was that they would be happy in their lives.

All are welcome to celebrate Sharon’s life from 3-6 pm on Saturday, September 16th, at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights. In remembrance, her wish would be to have a flower planted or to have a pet adopted in her memory.  Donations can be made to the Animal Humane Society, the Cancer Society, the Minnesota Horticulture Society, or the ALS Foundation.
