Age 90 of South Saint Paul, MN

Marilyn left us unexpectedly on November 21, 2024. She now rests in the arms of Jesus.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Gary (Mary) Locke, Michelle (John) McCaughtry, Pauline (Ron) Oja, Andrea (Paul) Schacht, and Marie (Dan) Culhane. Her love and laughter will be forever in the memories of her grandchildren, Alex (Michelle) Locke, Andrew (Leslie Randall) Locke, Ben (Molly Harris) Locke, David (Tina) Timm, Robert (Alicia) McCaughtry, Sarah (Ben) Anderson, Mitchell (Michaela) Evenson, Daniel (Ashley) Schacht, Elizabeth Schacht, Katelyn Culhane, and Samuel Culhane. Her hugs and self-penned lullabies will be passed down to her great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Elena Locke, Lucy and Lucas Timm, Arianna and Aaron McCaughtry, Finley Anderson, Georgia, Wallace and Wendell Evenson, and Aubrey and Brody Schacht. She is survived by her close-knit sisters, Carol (Richard) Vasatka, Sharon (Larry, decd.2021) Joswiak, and Diane (Paul) Radintz, her sister-in-law, Susan (Bob, decd.1988) Reynolds, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Her absence will be felt by her countless lifelong friends, bridge and tennis partners, fellow Holy Trinity parishioners, and her exceptionally kind neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Michael G. Locke (decd.2000); they were high school sweethearts who met shortly after Marilyn’s parents, Lyle (decd.2002) and Pauline (decd.2000) Lamphere, moved the family to South St. Paul in 1946.

Marilyn was a proud alumna of the South St. Paul High School Class of 1952 and the University of Minnesota Class of 1956.  She was joyfully independent, extremely witty, astoundingly resourceful, and wonderfully reliable.  IEDSMS WNO TUB VLEOD ORVFREE. She walked with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, every day and received her strength and willpower from Him until the very end.
