Isabelle Cecile Riopelle Swanson was born to Belle and Lawrence Riopelle on July 16, 1920 on the family farm near Argyle, MN. Isabelle married her high school sweetheart, Allard Swanson, on January 3, 1944. Isabelle and Allard were blessed with three daughters, Mary Ellen, Susan Kay, and Kay Marie. Isabelle was a wonderful mother and homemaker who loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was active in St Rose of Lima Catholic Church, as a foster grandparent, and with many other volunteer organizations. She loved entertaining and playing card games with friends. Isabelle made people laugh! She was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. Isabelle was fun loving, kind hearted, caring and enjoyed life. At age 97, Isabelle passed away peacefully with her family by her side. She will be missed and fondly remembered forever. Isabelle is survived by Mary Ellen (Tommie Milton Sr.), Susan (Mason Hjelle), Kay (Marlon Lagred); grandchildren, Sara (Mike Kohn), Nick (Joa Hjelle), Zach (Heidi Lagred), Alexa (Nick Wirgau); step grandchildren, Almarie, Tommie Jr., Schannell, Randy, and Troy; great-grandchildren, Quinn, Myles and Madilyn Lagred; sister, Jean Ann Landreville; brother, Leonard Riopelle; sisters-in-law, Lois Dufault, Anna Mae Swanson, Margery Bockli; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Isabelle was preceded in death by her husband, Allard Swanson; parents, Belle and Lawrence Riopelle; brothers, Elfay Riopelle & Richard Riopelle.

Passed away peacefully on September 26, 2017. Survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Barb; daughters, Linda (Don) Lockery, Kathy (Mike) Edgell & Denise (Ben) Mergens; sons, John (Terry) & Jeff (Kelly); grandchildren, Erika Lockery, Emily Kelly, Nikki Mehus, Jaime Beyersdorf, Theresa Mergens, Megan Mergens, Sam Mergens, Kristen Mertens, Lindsey Mertens, Amanda Mertens, Kaylee Mertens, Abigail Mertens; 5 great-grandchildren. John was a 1956 graduate of Cretin High School. John retired from Northwest Airlines in 1997 after 36 years of service, he began his career as an aircraft mechanic and by the time of his retirement was a Director in aircraft maintenance. John became an Aviation Safety Inspector at the Federal Aviation Administration in 1997 and retired in 2004. John also served as a volunteer fireman for 22 years with the IGH Fire Department from 1971 until 1993. Passed away on September 27, 2017. Kathy was welcomed into heaven by her parents, John & Marie Kannel, and brothers Jim, Dale, and Dick. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 60 years, Daniel; sons, Steven and Jami, Tony, David and Nicole; five grandchildren, Ian (& Katie), Miranda, Sabrina, Courtney, and Dominic; two great-granddaughters, Eva and Clare; sister, Geri Brunner. Kathy was an active member of St. Patrick’s church in Inver Grove Heights and thoroughly enjoyed singing in the choir. She was a member and past president of the Santa Marians and St. Patrick’s Alter & Rosary Society. Kathy was involved in the Boy Scouts of America and had been awarded the St. George and the Silver Beaver. A celebration of his life will be held Friday October 6th, at the VETERANS MEMORIAL COMMUNITY CENTER (Community room 1), 8055 Barbara Ave E, Inver Grove Heights, MN. A gathering of friends and family will begin at 1030am, a brief Eulogy at 11am with lunch to follow. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Shriners Hospital for children.
