Age 87 of Inver Grove Heights

Passed away July 23, 2017. Preceded in death by parents, Harry & Cora; brother, Donald. Survived by daughters, Linda (Steven Monette) Michie, Patty (Bret Ethier) Michie, Carrie (Michael) Simmons & Darci (Jim Amidon) Michie; grandchildren, Caitlin, Alexander, Spencer, Sydney & Bailey. Born in Montevideo, MN, Harold proudly served his country as a Naval Aviator, retiring with the rank of Captain. In his civilian career as an educator and guidance counselor he dedicated more than 20 years to the Simley High School community. A private family interment will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Habitat for Humanity or The Nature Conservancy.

Hodges, Carl Douglas, Jr.

Age 48 of Inver Grove Heights, MN

Left us on July 16, 2017. He is survived by mother, Dorothy Mae (Paul) Farley; sister, Pam (Ben) Nelson; nephew and niece, Gage and Jordan; son, Mackenzie Welm. He is preceded in death by father, Carl Hodges, Sr. Memorial Service 3 PM Monday, July 24th, at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave. Inver Grove Heights. Visitation 12 Noon-3 PM prior to the service. Dinner to follow at the Moose Lodge #1068, 5927 Concord Blvd., Inver Grove Heights, MN. Memorials preferred.

Schmidt, Anton “Tony”

Age 89 of West St. Paul

Passed away July 18, 2017

Tony was born on August 5, 1927 in St. Paul and served in the US Navy from 1944-1946 during WWII in the Philippines. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph & Anna (Hagl); sister, Clara Madison; grandchildren, Lauren Schulte & Douglas Schmidt. Survived by beloved wife of 64 years, Dotty; children, Carolyn (Richard) Ketchel, Timothy (Berghetta), Beverly (Kevin) Schulte, Susan (Donald) Hill, Mary Beth (Joel) Forseth, Sarah (Gary) Kopp, Daniel (Jerri) & Joseph (Wendy); 18 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; also several nieces & nephews. Tony was a graduate of Dunwoody Technical College and was employed at North Central Publishing, Banta Printing and Hermanson Dental. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Monday, July 24th, at the Church of St. Patrick, 3535 72nd St. Inver Grove Heights. Visitation 10-11 AM prior to Mass. Interment St. Patrick’s Church Cemetery. Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 16, 2017. Preceded in death by parents, Clarence & Mary Polta; brothers, Richard & Eugene Polta. Survived by daughter, Patty (Jerald) Kruse; grandchildren, David, Matt, Katie, Sarah & Dan; brother, William (Ellen) Polta; sisters, Gloria Singleton, Andrienne Atkins, Joanne Polta & Patricia Casey; also many nieces, nephews & friends. Darlene retired after 40 plus years with Bremer Bank. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Saturday, July 22nd, at the Church of St. Patrick, 3535 72nd St., Inver Grove Heights. Rosas, Kathryn E. “Katie”

Age 36 of Inver Grove Heights

Passed away on July 8, 2017 after a 13-year battle with brain cancer. Survived by her best friend (her Pod 2), Dan Inserra; daughter, Barbara; parents, Keith & Barbara Hansen; siblings, Larry Hansen, Angela (Joseph) Medina, Mark Hansen, Keith (Jennifer) Hansen, Brian (Stacey) Hansen & Margaret (Alberto) Herrera; also many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & friends. In spite of her many years of struggles, Katie was always joyful, happy & positive which amazed everyone who met her. She was truly a reflection of God’s love. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Wednesday, July 12th, at the Church of St. Joseph, 1154 Seminole Ave., West St. Paul. Visitation 9-11 AM prior to Mass at church. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.

Hirsch, Jerome “Jerry”

 

Born June 6, 1934 in Sleepy Eye, MN.

Passed away July 8, 2017 with family in attendance. He was preceded in death by parents, Richard and Angeline Hirsch; brother, Ronald; son, Thomas; granddaughter, Lucinda Davis. Survived by loving wife of 62+ years Barbara; children, Debora Hirsch (Bill Letourneau), Sandra Rude (Brad), Barbara Davis, Paul (Margaret) Hirsch; grandchildren, Jennifer Davis (George Beikler), Jacob Rude, Kristina (Mat) Langhorst, Nicholas and Rebecca Hirsch; great-grandchildren, Lucinda Davis and Jeffrey Beikler; sisters, Marjorie Broich, & Mary Frassel; brother, Donald Hirsch; brothers-in-law, Gary Swanson & Dave (Diane) Ubl; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jerry was incredibly proud of his entire family. He worked in the plastics business for 42 years, enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, and watching sporting events. The family wishes to thank the staff at United Hospital, United Heart Clinic and Allina Hospice for their outstanding care. Visitation 9:30 followed by Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 am at St. Peter’s Church in Mendota, 1405 Sibley Mem. HWY, on July 12, 2017, luncheon to follow. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials preferred to Heart Association, FMSC or your favorite charity.

Age 88 of Inver Grove Heights.

Passed away peacefully on June 28, 2017. Survived by loving wife of 61 years, Florence; sister, Dorothy Gogolakis; brother, Tom; also nieces & nephews. Gene was a member of AA for 41 years and worked many years in the lumber business. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Monday, July 3rd, at the Church of St. Patrick, 3535 72nd St., Inver Grove Heights. Visitation 9-10 AM prior to Mass. Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials Preferred.

(nee Sandkamp) Age 75 of Inver Grove Heights.

God called Norma home June 20, 2017. Preceded in death by parents, Harry B. and Eleanor Sandkamp; brothers, Leo and W.J. Bernie Sandkamp; sisters, Marcia Ell and Helen Jansen. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 53 years, Gil; daughter, Debbie; siblings, Elaine Simone, Virgil (Joan) Sandkamp, Alan Sandkamp, Carol Devereaux, Mary Jane (Michael) Pisano, JoAnn (Michael) Hinz, John (Pat) Sandkamp and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Norma loved traveling, church activities, volunteering, dancing to old time music, and time spent with family and friends. Visitation 4 to 8 PM, Friday June 23rd, at the Church of St. Patrick, 3535 72nd St. Inver Grove Heights. Age 80 of Inver Grove Heights.

God called Dorothy home June 12, 2017, surrounded by family. She was born Sept. 13, 1936 to Harry & Nellie Gustafson. Preceded in death by husband, Ronald. Survived by brother, Walter (Gloria) Gustafson; children, Gregory (Jessica Standefer), Patrick (Sharon), Gary (Colleen), Vicki (Andy) Williams, Paul (Stacy) &Valeri (Steve) Zeilinger; grandchildren, Kate (Michael) Fisher, Ali (Timothy) Wegwerth, Chris (Melissa) Haley, Ryan Haley, Breanna (Tanner) Miller, Zachary Zeilinger, Nicole (Nicholas) Zaglifa, Alicia (Ryan) Austerman, Kayla Marion, Hannah Marion, Rachel Williams & Sarah Williams; 10 great-grandchildren; also nieces and nephews. There has never been anyone better at making another person feel more extraordinary. Thank you for the love and laughter, the creativity and adventures, for being a spark in all of our lives and a bright spot in all our worlds. You simply made the world a better place for all who knew you. We love you forever and always our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend -Dorothy. Neubauer, Neil W.

Age 77 of Inver Grove Heights, MN

Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on June 11, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by parents, Carl & Sadie Neubauer; and 4 brothers. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Judy; children, Scott (Mary) Neubauer, Shelley ( Doug) Abrahamson & Stacy (Paul) Marion;  7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Dorothy Carlson; and many family & friends. A special thank you to his Oncologist, Dr. Matthews, the Woodwinds Cancer Center staff & Health East Hospice. Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 7PM, with visitation from 4:30 to the time of service at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7600 Cahill Ave., Inver Grove Heights. A light lunch will follow service.
