Koenigs, Gilbert

Age 84 of Inver Grove Heights

Gilbert passed away peacefully April 10, 2018 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Preceded in death by wife, Norma; parents, Arnold and Regina Koenigs; sister Bonita Streit; and brother, Marvin Koenigs. He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Debbie; siblings Mary Ann Klapperich, brother Bernie (Judy) Koenigs, Aggie (Maynard) Theobald, Geni Detviler, and Geri (Roger) Fisher; sister-in-law Eileen Koenigs; and numerous nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends. Gilbert loved gardening, church activities, fishing, traveling, dancing to old time music, and volunteering. He was a 38-year employee of Northern States Power (Xcel Energy). Visitation from 4 to 7 PM, Thursday, May 17 at the Church of St. Patrick, 3535 72nd St., Inver Grove Heights. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Friday, May 18, also at the Church of St. Patrick with visitation 9:30-10:30 AM prior to Mass. Interment Church of St. Patrick Cemetery.

Buchner, Sandra

Age 80 of Inver Grove Heights

Passed away suddenly on Monday, May 7th, 2018, surrounded by family. Sandy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to so many. Born July 23, 1937 in Ridgeland, WI, she married her high school sweetheart, Arland Buchner, while he was in the Navy on July 9th, 1956. Sandy worked for the IGH school district for 20 years. Sandy loved spending time with people and was happiest when family or friends came by or called to “gab”. She loved her hugs. And she loved going places and doing things. Sandy was a happy and cheerful person, who always seemed to be enjoying herself and others. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Artys Glaser and her brother Steven. She is survived by Arland, her husband of 61 years, son, Tom (Paula); daughter, Terri (Lee); grandchildren, Jacob, Phillip, Lisa (Miles) and Cody; great-grandchild, Naomi and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7600 Cahill Ave E, Inver Grove Heights on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 11:00 am, with visitation 1 hour prior. Private Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association or Good Shepherd Church.

Age 66 of Inver Grove Heights

Passed away suddenly on May 8, 2018. Preceded in death by father Kenneth. Survived by loving husband, Jim; son, Greg; mother, Joan; sister, Terry (Andy), brother, Lonnie, mother-in-law Rosemary, nieces, nephews. Funeral Service 11 am Monday, May 14th at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave., IGH. Visitation one hour prior.

Smith, Cecilia Ann “Cookie”

 

 

 

Age 72, of Inver Grove Heights passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on April 29, 2018.  Preceded in death by parents Marion and Loretta Smith; brother Michael Smith.  Survived by sister-in-law Mary Ellen Smith, close friends and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great niece and great nephew.   Our Lady of Peace High School Class of 1963, St. Joseph’s Hospital Class of 1966 Practical Nurse.  Cookie worked in the NICU area of Regions Hospital for over 40 years.  She was a very strong and independent woman who loved to travel, bake, scrap-book, manicure her flower garden, plan events with friends and spend countless hours spoiling her dogs and cats.  Her laugh was infectious and will be missed.  Private burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Inver Grove Heights where her ashes will be placed adjacent to her brother.

Passed away May 1st, at age 93

Due to complications from a stroke. Angie was born 6/26/24 to Paul & Emilia Bierwirth in Webster MN. She is preceded in death by parents; first husband, Leonard J. Kanitz; second husband, Everett McDonald; children, Luella L. Mitchell, Edward P. Kanitz, George A. Kanitz; step-daughter, Laura McDonald; granddaughter, Paula Seifert (Kanitz); great-grandson, Tyler H. Seifert. Survived by children, Leonard K. Kanitz (Ellen), Roger W. Kanitz (Mary). “Grandma Angie” is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Services to be held 11 am Wednesday, May 9th, at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 460 Annapolis Street W., West St Paul, MN. Visitation 1 hour prior to service, lunch to follow. Private Interment Riverview Cemetery.

Age 92 of West St. Paul, formerly of Fridley, MN

Passed away peacefully on April 30, 2018. Preceded in death by husband, Harold; brothers, Jerry & Raymond; sister, Marian. Survived by loving son, William (Mary Ann Fletcher); grandsons, Nick & Collin; also many loving nieces, nephews. Betty loved spending time at the coffee shop, going to the Mall, tending to her flowers and the following the MN Golden Gophers “Ski U Mah”. Age 88 of Inver Grove Heights.

Went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2018. Preceded in death by husband, Maurice; daughter, Catherine; parents, Bernard and Veronica Danzl; brothers, Robert, James & Leo Danzl; son-in-law, Francisco Delgado. Survived by daughter, Constance Delgado; sons, Michael, Jeffrey (Melissa) & Patrick (Cynthia); 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, LaDonna, Darlene & Mary Kay; sister-in-law, LaVonne; also nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends. LaVerne was a loving mother and gave generously of herself. She loved music and was a member of Music Makers, the Order of Franciscans, Net Ministries, St. Pat’s Church and Resurrection Choirs.  Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Wednesday, April 25th, at the Church of St. Patrick, 3535 72nd St., Inver Grove Heights. Passed away peacefully at her home in Rosemount, MN, surrounded by family on April 17, 2018. She will be always remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt, teacher & friend. Seals, Mary Virginia “Ginny”

Age 89 of West St. Paul, MN

Passed away peacefully at home on April 13, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Sheriff Russell Seals, Jr.; parents, Paul and Samantha Vaughn, and sister, Glenna. Ginny was born August 23, 1928 and raised in East St. Louis, Illinois. She had a long career as a legal secretary in Nebraska City, Nebraska and also assisted her husband in his sheriff’s duties. A year after her husband’s death in 1982, Ginny moved to St. Paul to be closer to her children. She then worked as assistant to the president of Commercial State Bank in St. Paul for many years.
Ginny was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her strength, feisty spirit, and deep faith lives on in those who will forever love and remember her: children Randy (Linda) Seals; Jeri (Gregg) Weigand; Joyce (Patrick) Roddy, and John (Pam) Seals; grandchildren Jason (Lori) Seals; Kallie (Misha) Orlova: Jared (Kristi) Roddy; Karissa (Adam) Drew; Erin Roddy; Logan (Katie) Roddy; Kara Weigand, and Piper Seals; great grandchildren George, Noah, Meadow, Nadeen, Veronika, Amelia, Sullivan, Lyubov, Michael “Frankie”, many nieces, and a nephew.
Ginny leaves behind her loving companion, Jim Stickler, who provided much joy to her for almost 24 years. The special bond they shared gave her great happiness and she and her family and are thankful for his presence in her and their lives. She will also be missed by a host of longtime friends.
A very special thanks to Jodi at Health Partners Hospice and the wonderful staff of the Sanctuary in West St. Paul for all of their devotion and attention to Mom.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 17th at 10:00 a.m. prior to the memorial service at 11:00 a.m., First Presbyterian Church, 535 20th Avenue North, South St. Paul, MN 55075. Lunch will follow the service at the church.
Memorial preferred to the ULLR Foundation or Feed My Starving Children.
