Our Dear Sweet Mother Has Passed Away… Marge liked to collect unusual rocks, making hearts in the snow, enjoyed all creatures great and small, and being in nature. Most of all Marge loved being a mother, grandmother, and wife. Preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Fred J. Kahle. Marge will be dearly missed by her children, Jim, Joan (Bill), Nancy, Mark (Sue), Laura (John); grandchildren, Allison, Thomas, Madeline, Billy, Kyle and Bryan. A prayer service will be held at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave., IGH. at 11:00 am on Thursday, Feb 16th with a Gathering of Friends and Family one hour prior at 10:00 am. Passed Away on Feb. 5th 2017. Age 72 of Inver Grove Heights, MN
Passed Away Peacefully in His Home. Proceeded in death by his Son Brian; Brothers Richard and Ervin Austing; Mother Rogaria and Father Bernard Austing. Mel will be deeply missed by his Wife, Judy, of 52 years and Daughter Becky; Brother Ronald Austing (Toni); Sisters Kathy Funk (Larry), Carol Stangler (Maurie), Patty Klaphake, Linda Buening (Bernie), Marilyn Breth (Jerry), Karen Mueller (David). Mel retired after working 50 years for the Pioneer Press. He enjoyed camping, spending time with his family, watching sports and playing Fantasy Football with his friends from the Hat Trick in lower downtown St. Paul. He was a devoted husband, father, brother and friend. Judy and Becky extend a special thanks to HealthEast Hospice Staff for taking such good care of him.

Died February 6, 2017 at home surrounded by his family, after a short, but valiant battle with GlioblastomaHe leaves his wife of 34 years, Judy (Havard) Hagen; daughter, Amy (Chris) Narlock; step-daughter, Stephanie (Ben Richards) McDaniel; granddaughters, Eleanor and Ada Richards; brother, Curt Hagen. He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Gladys Hagen. Wendall was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed playing the guitar (particularly with family accompaniment), being outdoors, biking, hiking and a good “discussion” about politics. He served in the United States Air Force as a navigator attaining the rank of Captain during the Vietnam war. His career included many business and entrepreneurial endeavors. Born in Minneapolis to Donald and Gladys Hagen, Wendall spent his formative years in several locations around the country due to his father’s work. He graduated from Wayzata High School and University of Minnesota and received a master’s degree from Central Michigan University. Nelson, Shirley Ann
Passed Away on January 22, 2017. Age 93 of Inver Grove Heights
She was born to Mr. and Mrs. Stan Swenson on April 22, 1924, in Mankato, MN. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1942, and earned a B.S. in nursing from Hamline University in 1947. She married Charles J. Nelson, Jr. in 1948. Shirley was the first School Nurse in Windom, earned a Public Health Certificate at the U of M in 1968 and became Nurse Coordinator for the Inver Grove Heights School District. She loved people, music, knitting, gardening and her innumerable friends. She served as a Girl Scout Leader, sang in the church choir in Windom and volunteered in the Memory Loss Unit at Timber Hills after retiring. Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Charlie; children, Ann and Bill; sister-in-law, cousins and a nephew. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to the Memory Loss Unit at Timber Hills. A Celebration of Life will be held in the chapel at Timber Hills, 6307 Burnham Circle, Inver Grove Heights on January 29th, 2017.

Another member of the “Greatest Generation” has quietly slipped away with family at his side on Jan. 21st after a brief illness. Preceded in death by wife, Viola; infant daughter, Mary Joan; son-in-law, Jack Groebner. Survived by daughters, Barbara Groebner, Mary Beth Braun, Georganne Behn (Mark) and son, David (Wendy); grandchildren, Mary Carter (Bob), Jane Burrows (Bob), Dan Groebner (Jordan), Jennifer Behn Wall, Liz Badger, Anne Behn, Addie and Connie Braun; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Ryan, Olivia, Ave, and Theis. George served in WWII as a crew member on a B-24 “Liberator.” He flew with the “Pyramidiers,” a unit of the 98th bomb group and was stationed in North Africa and the Middle East. He was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. Upon returning home he became the proprietor of Rogowski Clothing on old Concord St. in So. St. Paul. He greatly enjoyed the tales and banter of his customers, most of whom worked in the stockyards or in the thriving meat packing industry. George loved the music of the big bands, the romantic orchestrations of Andre Rieu and even at the age of 96 enjoyed Lady Gaga. Go figure! Well-read, self-deprecating, witty and introspective, he will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. There will be a private service and interment at Acacia Cemetery Jan. 25th at 11 a.m.
