Dickerson, Annett Katherine

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Annett Katherine (Derks) Dickerson on September 8, 2023, who passed away at the age of 80.  She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend.

She was predeceased by parents Herman and Frances (Hostrawser) Derks of Saint Paul, MN, and husband John P Dickerson of Saint Paul, MN; brother and sister in-laws Geno, Jim, Jesse and Arvie Dickerson, Audry Taylor and Cinda Javner.

Annett was the oldest of four siblings and survived by brothers George Derks (Patty) of IGH, MN; Doug Derks (Linda) of IGH, MN; sister Elaine Derks of IGH, MN; daughters Polly Vasquez (Charlie) of Maplewood, MN; Joyce Johnson (Larry) of Belleair, FL; sons Jerome Dickerson (Lea Ebensteiner) of Saint Paul, MN; Kent Dickerson (Kristen) of Caledonia, MI; grandchildren Matthew Mudgett (Jenny Ahlberg) of St Cloud, MN; Brandon Mudgett (Laura Frank) of Burlington, NJ; Alisha Mudgett (David) of Houston, TX; Alexis, Katelyn and Brayden Dickerson of Caledonia, MI; great grandchild Hannah Mudgett; sister in-law Judy Dickerson of Apple Valley, MN; she is also survived by many nieces, nephews and loved ones that called her their second mom and Marge Cliff who she often said was her sister from another mister.

Annett was born May 31, 1943 in Saint Paul MN near Crosby lake, she graduated from Monroe High School and soon after got married and raised her own family in Saint Paul.  She was a born mom, Annett worked at Pearson Candy Factory for a while and soon after giving birth to her fourth child she started her own daycare business out of her home.  This is where her house became a home and all were welcomed, coffee clutching with friends, playing cards, s’mores by the firepit at night, our home was soon the neighborhood house where all the kids and adults liked to gather.  Annett also had a passion for her hobbies, sometimes it was her escape to express herself and other times couldn’t wait to teach it to others.  She loved camping, drives in the car to see fall leaves, ceramics, gardening, cooking, crocheting, knitting, sewing and in the last few years she was the diamond dot Queen!  If you knew our mom, you most likely did one or many of these things with her in life and there was always a sweet ending to include Dairy Queen or Applebee’s!

Annett was a very strong woman, the last 5 years she battled cancer (CML Leukemia) and other ailments of diabetes and kidney disease for decades.  While she will be missed so very much by all that loved her, we rejoice that she was able to live a long and fulfilling life, and that she is now reunited with John and other family and friends in Heaven.
