Age 84 of South St. Paul

Died peacefully at home with family on August 25, 2023. George was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served on a Gato-class submarine, the USS Rasher. Preceded in death by beloved wife, Gerry; survived by children Kelly (Bruce) Kayser and Steve (Sara) Yaeger; grandchildren Carl, Samuel, Julia, Hannah, and Matthew. George’s faith sustained him to the very end of his days. “Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of eternal life, to which you were called and about which you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” 1Timothy 6:12. We are grateful to the team at LX Medical, especially James and Paige, who went above and beyond to support our family on this journey. Also, a special thank you to caregivers Kristine, Marilee, Kira, and grandson Sam for their kindness and flexibility. A private graveside service was held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on August 31, 2023.

Dennis passed away unexpectedly on September 2 surrounded by family. Beloved husband of Nancy. Devoted father to Katie, Shannon, Lisa (Matt Jasper), Bubba (Katie Fitzer). Big Papa to Dylan, Landon, Cooper, Jake, Lucas, Maxine, and man’s best friend Rocco.

Dennis was raised on the west side of St. Paul. He graduated from Humboldt High School, class of 1971 and continued his education at St. Paul Technical Vocational Institute where he became a lithographer. Dennis worked as a printer/foreman the next 42 years for the same company.

On April 20, 1974, he married his high school sweetheart and their life’s journey began. Dennis devoted his life to his family. As his children were growing up he was very active in West St. Paul youth athletics. He coached girls and boys hockey, ringette, baseball, and was the football commissioner. He enjoyed playing golf, cooking, music, trips to Las Vegas and Laughlin.

For the last 13 years you could find him on his pontoon on Webb Lake surrounded by his wife, kids, grandkids, and his fishing buddies Steve and Jimmy. When he wasn’t fishing Dennis always looked forward to his many conversations with his good friend Vince (Pops).

Dennis had a great impact on his friends and family and will be deeply missed.

A celebration of Dennis’ life will be held Sunday September 17 from 4:30 to 8:00 pm at DeGidios Restaurant and Bar located at 425 7th St W, St Paul, MN 55102.

Cindy was a Humboldt graduate of 1975.  She enjoyed boating, traveling, quilting, her faith, spending time in many ways with friends and family.  She was a long time member of the Society of Our Lady of Guadalupe. She has touched and inspired many lives and one of her greatest joys was helping and caring for others.

She always remained positive, strong and brave while she battled cancer and leukemia.  We want to thank all the many doctors and nurses that helped her along the way.

Mass of Christian Burial 11 am, Tuesday, September. 5^th at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 401 Concord St., St. Paul. Visitation 10-11 am prior to Mass at church. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Hts. Luncheon to follow after precession service.

Marshall (Mac) McDonough, 90, of South St Paul, passed away unexpectedly August 30, 2023. He was a beloved, fun- loving husband, father, grandpa & great grandpa. He was liked by all, loved to laugh, enjoyed fishing, playing cards, working on cars, and above all, was so proud of his family. He would have been married to his wife, Mary, 67 years on September 1st. They were devout catholics and spent many hours volunteering to serve others. Mac was always willing to lend a hand to family & friends.

He was greeted in heaven by his loving daughter Theresa, parents Edna & Coleman, in-laws Theresa & Joseph Marthaler and brother in-laws Joseph (Jeanette) & Donald Marthaler.

He will be greatly missed by those who survived him, his wife Mary, children Mary Jo Exley (Tom), Michael McDonough, Tom McDonough (Helen), Karen Brummer (Tim), son in-law Mike Skillrud, grandchildren Jeremy Exley (Jess), Jennifer Exley Smith (Will), Erik (Lia) & Kelsey Skillrud, Alyssa McDonough (Dan), Ashley McDonough Ramsay (Jono), Ella & Coleman Brummer, great grandchildren Alida, Leo, Charlie, Millie, Colette, Franklin, Annabelle & Sophia and in-laws JoAnne Southworth (John) & Raymond Marthaler (Betty).

Casey was born to Robert and Lynn Salmon. She was reunited with her mother Lynn Tisland in heaven on August, 25, 2023. Casey is survived by the only love of her life and best friend of many years, Justin Wheeler and their only son and light of her life, Jaxson Wheeler Casey was Baby sister to Dustin (Samantha), Angela, Kristy (Travis), Jake (Courtney), Kody (Lauren) and big sister to Allie (Travis); Step-siblings, Eric, Casey, and Kyle (Deceased) Tisland.

Casey was cherished and so special to her adoptive parents Mark and Cyndi. Casey’s daily calls to her dad Mark is something that can never be replaced and will be forever missed. Casey loved children and was the best auntie to BrookLynn, Colton and 9 other nephews and nieces. Casey’s dream was to be a pastry chef and open her own bakery someday. Baking was her passion and she was the best. Casey Loved to bake. She loved butterflies, flowers, baby cows, and all Nature. Most of all, she loved her family. Casey also had many friends, second moms, and extended family. Casey will be forever missed and forever loved by all who were blessed to have had her touch their hearts.

A Private Celebration of Casey’s Life will be held in Late September.

Age 83, of South St. Paul

Passed away peacefully on August 26, 2023. Survived by loving wife, Mary; daughter, Kathy Winter (Mike); grandchildren, Jake and Nicole; brothers, Julian (Louise) Winter, Peter (Laura) Winter, Mary Lee (Steve) Price, and Lee (Darcy) Winter; also, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Tony Burger; parents; brothers Roman, Harold, DuWayne, Sylvester, and Eugene; sister Claudette; and nephews Tommy and Cole.

Joe had the personality and natural charisma to make friends wherever he went. Never at a loss for words, he enjoyed meeting with friends at local coffee shops and restaurants to reminisce about farm life and his years working at Flint Hills Resources (formerly Koch Refinery). He also enjoyed spending time with family at their cabin in Paynesville, as well as taking frequent road trips. Joe was active in the community, having volunteered for several years at the VFW Post 295 and other local charities.

Joe was a selfless man whose passing will leave an unfillable void in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever engrained in all he knew.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at United Hospital in St. Paul for their care and compassion over the last several months.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 am on Thursday, August 31, at the Church of Holy Trinity, 749 6^th Ave. So., South St. Paul, with a visitation starting at 9:30 am. Luncheon to follow service.

Private burial at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in South St. Paul.

It is with saddened and heavy hearts that we say goodbye to a larger-than-life son, grandson, brother and friend, Austin Michael Scott. Heaven gained an amazing angel on August 8th, 2023 after a devastating and untimely accident. Those who were blessed to know Austin will forever miss his beautiful smile, infectious laugh, uncanny humor and genuine heart.
Austin served in the United States Navy as an aviation machinist, ending his promising career too soon, at the age of 29. Austin excelled in anything he put his mind or heart to, and this was no exception, ending his Navy career as an E6. The Navy has been his family for the past 6 years, in addition to his blood, marina and lifelong friends and families.
Hearts are broken and rivers of tears are being shed for an amazing soul taken from us way too soon. But God saw something bigger for our Austin and invited him to join him on his journey into something greater.

Hall (uncle), Johnny D. Rawls (Pawpaw), Beth Rawls (Nana), Christopher Rawls (uncle), Lauren Rawls (aunt), Rodney Curlee (uncle), Ryan Curlee (uncle), Reid E. Williams (niece).

Reporting with sadness that our Mom, Charlotte, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, August 19, 2023 at 96 years young. Her children were by her side until the end. She had a heart attack and stroke on Thursday and hospiced at Fairview Ridges hospital in Burnsville. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am at Diamond Lake Lutheran Church, 5760 Portland Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55417. Visitation before the service will be start 10:00am. We are glad she was not in pain long and had a caring medical/ hospice team. Charlotte was born July 28, 1927 on a farm in Southern Minnesota to Edward and Hulda (Kueker) Vogt. She was the second oldest of eight children. Through years of sickness and strife, she always remained incredibly strong, graceful and steadfast in her faith. She was a gifted seamstress and gardener; a queen uncrowned but dearly beloved and forever missed. She was passionate about womens rights as she found herself the head of the house when her first husband came down with Polio. Her political views were democratic and progressive. She was always strong in her Lutheran faith. Charlotte was proceeded in death by her husbands, Martin Braun, Lyle Larson and Paul Bruening; granddaughter Megan Braun; sister Gertrude and her husband Virgil Villnow; sister Marjorie (Meg) and her husband Jack Maxwell; brother Winfred Vogt and his ex wife Carol; sister Anna Lee LaBissonierre and her ex husband Duke; sister-in-law Marjorie Vogt; a step-son Bill Bruening and his wife Mimi. She is survived by her partner in love, Carl Kallstrom; her sons Stan Braun and his ex wife Marge; Gary Braun and his wife Beth; her daughter Cynthia (Larson) and her husband Dann Henseler and ex husband Blair Anderson; her brother Carl Vogt and her sister Isabelle and her husband Frank Lindskoog; her brother David and his wife Marilyn; her grandchildren (in order by age) Nicholas Braun, Jeremy Braun and his wife Rachael, Ginger and her husband Jesse Phillips, Brandon Anderson, Adrianne Braun and her husband Chris Cloud and Brett Anderson. She was also blessed with 4 great-grandchildren Riley Phillips, James Braun, Kailey Phillips and Zachary Braun. Charlotte also had 4 stepchildren, Paul Bruening Jr. and his wife Yoshiko, Barb and her husband Jim Davis and Sandra and her husband Jeff Young; and step-grandchildren Brooke and her husband Brent McBeath, Scott Davis and his wife Gina, Josh Bruening and his wife Nani, Susan Bruening Watson, Alexis and her husband Bill Stuckey, Stuart Bruening and his wife Devin. Charlotte had over 25 nieces and nephews.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Emmett, beloved son and brother, who left us on 08/09/2023. He was born on 09/09/2020 and brought light and joy into our lives.

Emmett loved all that life offered whether from his favorite songs, big hugs from his brother, mac and cheese, and of course any kind of toy ball.

Emmett brought immeasurable joy and happiness to his family during his brief existence. His infectious laughter and playful nature were a constant source of delight. No matter whether he was at his best or his worst, he had the ability to touch the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

He will be deeply missed by his parents, brother, grandparents as well as countless loved ones.
Emmett was preceded in death by his grandfather, Loren Linn and cousin, Ariel Linn.

A memorial service to celebrate Emmett’s life will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 149 8^th Ave. S., South St. Paul on Saturday, August 26^th with visitation from 1-3pm and service immediately following. May his radiant spirit continue to guide us, reminding us to cherish every moment, embrace the beauty of simplicity, and hold our loved ones a little bit closer. 1935-2023

Our beloved Husband, Dad, Gramps, and friend joined Daughter Christy and Grandson Justin, and all his family in heaven, Sunday August 13, 2023.  He leaves to mourn Pat, his loving Bride of 57 years; and 4 sons, Mark (Shannon), John “Terry” (Corrine), Greg (Jeanette), and David (Linda). His grandkids, Brandon, Brian, Kristin, Mark Jr., Cassie, Jason, Ryan, Alyson, Cailey, Jeff, Brad, Michael, Dan, Shane & Ashley, and 37 great-grandkids.

An evening of remembrance will be Monday 8/21 4-8pm and funeral service Tuesday 8/22 with visitation at 10am and service at 11am. Both visitation and funeral will take place at St. Stanislaus Church-187 S. Western Ave. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery immediately following.  Lunch will be provided upon return to the church.  There will be a streamed Mass on Saturday, 9/2 at 4pm on St. Stans website honoring Red’s entrance into heaven.  Memorials preferred.

Red is a lifelong resident of West 7^th Street and proud graduate of Monroe Highschool class of 1954 where he exceled in “hall lunch monitor.”

He was a dedicated employee at Abex Foundry in St. Paul.  He was eventually transferred to Pennsylvania, but it was too far from home for the family, so he gave his notice and moved the family back to West 7^th Street where they still reside 44 years later.

Upon returning to Minnesota, he worked for St. Paul Brass for over 30 years where he was never late, never missed a day, and fought snowstorms to get there.  However, he looked forward to his V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N time.

Red liked to spend time at home in his recliner watching TV, especially channel 4.  He was known to pretend he was sleeping even though he was really eavesdropping on every conversation taking place in the house.

In their travels he and his Bride along with great friends went on 3 cruises, spent winter months in Arizona, swam with dolphins, amongst many other activities and destinations.

Red was proud of the booya recipe he developed. All his grandkids told him “No one can make booya like you Gramps.”  His sons have his recipe and his family plans to continue his tradition.

He enjoyed time at the cabin with his kids and grandkids fishing, rides on the pontoon, sitting around the bonfires, and morning swings on the deck with a cup of coffee.  The grandkids got quite a kick out of gramps because there are now a lot of fish swimming around the lake wearing his glasses and watches.  He was sure to be seen wearing cut off jean shorts, a white T-shirt, a bucket hat, and at times rubber boots. Picture that!

He will be missed by all his loving family and friends.  Dad/Gramps was one of a kind!
