Sapletal, Donna Marie

Age 67, of Inver Grove Heights, MN

Passed away surrounded by her loved ones on September 23, 2022. Preceded in death by parents Marjorie and Donald Dahedl and Niece Melissa Dahedl-Leifeld.  Survived by Husband Donald, Daughters, Elisha (Blair) Harris & Jennifer (Steve) Miller, Son, David (Maria) Sapletal, Grandchildren, Jenna, Jacob, Mya, Tripp and Willow, Sisters, Deb (Dan) Achman & Denise (Mike) Williams, Brothers, Donny (Judy) Dahedl & Michael (Patty) Dahedl, also many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.  She had a strong love for her family, photography, golf, and nature.  She was loved by so many and will be greatly missed by us all.  A Celebration of Life will be held at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave, Inver Grove Heights, MN 55077 on Thursday, October 6th from 5-8pm with a Service beginning at 7:00 PM.  

 

Buechner, Lorraine (Rainy) (Boardman)

Age 91 of Inver Grove Heights

Passed away on September 18, 2022. Survived by loving husband of 50 years, Corky Buechner; mother of Nancy (John) Cooper, John Boardman and Pat (Jeff) Dahn. Blessed to have grandchildren, Bill (Julie) Zellmer, Carrie (Will) deGroot, Sean Boardman, Katie (Matt) Ashley, Jake (Deanna) Dahn, Luke (Afton) Dahn, Kristelle (Jon) Fumich. Along with great-grandchildren, Rae and Zach Zellmer, Audrey and Bennett deGroot, Adeline and Delaney Ashley, Finn and Nash Dahn, Ryker and Bowen Dahn, Preston, Lila and Whitney Fumich. Special to her nieces, Joyce Pisano and Shirley Houghton. Preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Boardman, father of her children; sister, Lois Millar; daughter-in-law, Pam Boardman; great-grandson, Hawkin Dahn.

The family would like to thank Vista Prairie and Avalon Hospice for providing comfort and support.

Service will be held at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights on October 3rd, 2022 10am to 11am with tribute at 11am. Interment Fort Snelling at a later date.

Ogren, Glenn

Age 71 of Cannon Falls

Passed away on Sept. 20, 2022. Preceded in death by parents, Ralph & Joyce Ogren, brother-in-law Gerald Herberg. Survived by wife, Debra; sons and families, Jeffrey & Bethany; Zachariah & Jeremiah Ogren, Timothy & Theresa; Thomas, Austin & Ashlee Ogren, Jack & Brie; Mia, Drew & Henry Meyer, Christopher & Kristen; Brandon & Gabriella Ogren, Benjamin Meyer; sister, Suzanne Herberg; brother, Arlen (Shelly) Logren, Duane (Gay) Ogren; including many other extended family & friends.

Glenn loved the Lord and faithfully attended and served at church and often lifted his strong voice in Praise to his Heavenly Father.  He loved his family and enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren in their various sporting events and activities.  He enjoyed traveling, much of which he drove.  He enjoyed woodworking.  Glenn enjoyed horses, owning them in his younger years and volunteering in retirement with retired horses.  Glenn was a wonderful host and many family and friends will cherish memories of time spent with him in his home and on the lake.

Funeral Service 11 AM Friday, September 30th at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 2075 70th St E., Inver Grove Heights. Visitation 9-11 AM prior to the service.  Luncheon to follow.  Internment at Emanuel Lutheran Church cemetery in a private ceremony at a later date.

Grasz, John L.

Age 86 of Inver Grove Heights.

Passed away on Sept. 9, 2022. Preceded in death by wife, JoAnn; son, John; grandson, Matthew; brother, Eugene. Survived by son, Mike (Cathy); daughter, Tammy LaForte; grandchildren, Kristy Litke (Chad), Michael Harrell, Stephanie Woelfel (Darrick Olsen), Daniel, and Danielle; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Madigan, Cianna, Mikey, Jordan & Jaylen; sister, Beverly (Roger) Knippenberg; also other family & friends. John L. was born to Roy & Violet Grasz in South St. Paul, MN on April 21, 1936.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. His passions included spending time at his hunting shack in Grantsburg, WI., golfing in several leagues.  He was a hard worker and retired from work at Ramsey County. Upon retirement John L. took a job mowing the lawns at Arbor Pointe Golf Club (mainly so he didn’t have to pay for his golf).  Anyone who spent any time with John L, knew he loved a good joke and would quickly find out that you’d be lucky to hear the punchline in between his own laughter.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held 4-7 PM on Thursday, Sept. 29th, with a Time of Sharing beginning at 6:30 PM at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights.

Peterson, Bruce

Age 68

Bruce died at home in Inver Grove Heights on September 17 2022. Born June 12 1954 by Gordon and Marian Peterson. Bruce worked at Metro Transit for 35 years. He loved to fish as much as he could. Survived by son Gregg Peterson and stepsons Dave and Chris Johnson, and his brothers Steve and Dale Peterson. Memorial to be held at Emanuel Lutheran Church (2075 70th St E, Inver Grove Heights, MN 55077) Monday September 26 at 1 PM.

Hage, June “Jeanette”

Age 95 of St. Paul

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sept. 20, 2022. Preceded in death by husbands, Kenneth Hage & Robert Hamilton; sister, Audrey; brother, Ken. Survived by children, Doug (Kathy), Carole (Derek) McIntyre, Sue (Jim) Bydlon; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol Whitcomb & Phyllis Hallberg; also other family & friends.

Jeanette lived a full, adventurous and happy life.  In her later years, she loved to read and visit with her family.

Memorial Service 6 PM Tuesday, Sept. 27th at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights.  Visitation 5-6 PM prior to the service.

Herbst, LaVina

Age 91 of Lilydale, MN (originally Sunnybrook, WI)

Passed away September 21, 2022.

Preceded in death by her husband Troy, her parents Richard and Mary (Bignall) Stewart,

Brothers Leonard, Elwood, Nelson, James, Richard, and Darrel

Sisters Myrtle Price, Genevieve Schultz, and Evelyn Keeler

Survived by son, Gary and his wife Leslie; daughter Christy Schmitt and her husband Tom; son Dean and his wife Robin; grandchildren Courtney Dedon and her husband Jon, and Amber Schmitt; great grandchildren Claire and Parker Dedon. Also survived by brother Lawrence and sister Catherine Kraft.

LaVina was a great mother and she took the job seriously. She taught her daughter to be a strong woman and her sons to be respectful gentlemen. She taught her children to be good citizens, to tell the truth, to work hard and do the job right the first time. She loved the Twins and Vikings and passed that on to her kids as well.

Gerten, Helen (DesLauriers)

Age 96

Born in Eagan to Louis and Margaret DesLauriers. Passed away peacefully September 15, 2022. Preceded in death by loving husband of 55 years, Jerry Gerten; daughter-in-law, Annette Gerten; grandson, Brad Miller; siblings, Margaret, Della, Louie, Mary, Martin, Kathleen, Dick, Alice. Survived by sister, Eileen Welsch and seven children, Beverly (Mick) Hlavinka, Gloria (John) Mullery, Jack (Delana), Frank (Patti), Liz (Gary) Myers, Mary (Gary) Garfield, Jim (partner Peggy Weber); 22 Grandchildren, Mick, Joe, Bob, Joy, Erin, Shawn, Brian, Brent, Beth, Tiffany, Jenna, Steven, Tracy, Melissa, Carrie, Sarah, Kate, Adam, Michael, Charlie, Grace and Joe; 31 great- grandchildren.

Graduated from St. Joseph Academy in St. Paul, married in 1947. Helen and Jerry helped establish Gerten Greenhouses.

Helen possessed grace and charm that proved a magnet to others as they eagerly sought her friendship and loved her non-judgmental style. Her sense of humor and loving nature to all around her served as the hallmark of her personality.

The family thanks the dedicated staff at Timber Hills for their love and care for Helen these past 9 years.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at St Thomas Becket Church, 4455 S Robert Trail on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 11 AM. Visitation 2 hours prior. Private interment at Resurrection Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. If so desired, memorials can be made to Our Lady of Peace Hospice Care in St. Paul.

Quinn, Susan

Age 65 of Inver Grove Heights

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 17, 2022. Preceded in death by parents, Clarence & Lorraine Hamilton. Survived by loving husband of 43 years, David; sons, Keegan (Katie Bystrom), Ian (fiancé, Trish Meyers); siblings, Robert (Sandi) Hamilton, Roger (Mary) Hamilton, Jack (Debbie) Hamilton, Connie (Curt) Eastvold, Patricia (Ron) Milks; also many nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.

Sue loved to spend time with family.  She had a passion for quilting and got Dave hooked on it too. Together they have spent many hours longarming and traveling around the state on Quilt Shop Hops.  She enjoyed family vacations with her boys and was very proud of them and their significant others.  She was kind, thoughtful, incredibly smart, and always encouraged others to do their best.  She enjoyed making connections and getting in on the gossip.  She always made family a priority, was a great Mom and Wife, loved fiercely, and was relentlessly strong willed.  She will be missed by all.

Memorial Service 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 27th, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7600 Cahill Ave, Inver Grove Heights.  Visitation 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM prior to the service.

Newell, Stephen Robert

Loving husband, father, son, brother and friend passed away unexpectedly on September 8, 2022 at the age of 64. He was known for his quiet, kind and gentle nature. An avid gardener, it was not uncommon to find him outside working on his next landscaping project or sharing his passion with others.

He is survived by wife Debra, daughter, Kat (Garrett) Lokken, son, Matthew Newell. mother-in-law, Billie Conlon; sisters-in-law, Teri Conlon (Bill Martin); Linda (Steve) Kovach; brother-in-law, Joe (Mirla) Conlon; nieces and nephews: Tori Conlon, Alex and Leah Kovach, Solange and Carlos Conlon; sister Kathy (Bob) Day and many other extended family members and friends. Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Margaret Newell; sister, Patricia Ireland; father-in-law Dr. Thomas Conlon; brother-in-law Tom Conlon and several aunts and uncles.

Steve served in the Navy upon graduation from Chisholm High School. Following his time in the service, he attended The College of Saint Scholastica where he studied physical therapy and met his wife, Deb. He worked as a physical therapist for 30 years in Albert Lea, Duluth and the Twin Cities. He provided meticulous orthopedic care to his patients at St. Luke’s, PTOSI and NovaCare over the course of his career.

A celebration of life for Steve Newell is planned for Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Church of St. Patrick, 3535 72nd St E, Inver Grove Heights, MN 55076. There will be a visitation from 5 – 7 p.m. followed by a Mass at 7 p.m.
