Survived by loving husband of 45 years, Randy; sons, Brian (Patty) & Brad (Amber); grandchildren, Jake, Josh, Carter, Hunter, Gunner, & Rylie; sisters, Trisha (Larry) Uhrich & Cathi Zook; brother, Richard (Dallas) Valdez; also other loving relatives & friends. Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on May 13, 2019. Preceded in death by son, John; 2 sisters; one brother. Survived by loving wife of 71 years, Betty; daughters, Sue (Larry) Haugesag & Sherry (Steve) Rechtzigel; son, Steve (Janet); 7 grandchildren, Jesse Haugesag (Val), Lindsey (Bud) Powell, Lisa (Travis) Larson, Bethany (Will) Creech, Tyler (Dani) Rechtzigel, Heidi (James) Staples, Amy (David) Ladd, and step-grandchildren Sherry Osterman (Bob) and Sebastian Haberoth. 8 great-grandchildren; Sophie, Chase, Preston, Lucy, Nora, Wendy, Grace, and Kate. Ray lived every one of his 93 years to the fullest. He spent nearly his entire work career as General Manager of Wally McCarthy’s Olds. He and Betty loved to travel and his love of cars is well known. Visitation 5-8 PM Thursday, May 16th, at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights. Born August 1, 1929 in Palestine, Texas, peacefully passed away on Saturday May 11, 2019 at home in Inver Grove Heights, MN at the age of 89. Bernice was Professed to the Secular Franciscan Order on November 10, 1963. She joined St. Thomas More Fraternity in 1969. She has been an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for over 50 years. She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Schwab; mother, Beatrice Schwab; husband, Eugene Heath. Bernice is survived by her brother, Edward Schwab (Carol); daughter, Catherine Strohfus; sons, Gregory Heath, James Heath (Lisa), Michael Heath, Daniel Heath, William Heath; grandchildren, Scott Heath, Brandon Strohfus, Ryan Strohfus, Bailey Heath Gambucci, Madison Heath Gambucci, Jake Heath, Noah Heath, Ella Heath; great-granddaughter, Leona June Heath; as well as numerous nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Thursday, May 16th, at the Church of St. Patrick, 3535 72nd St., Inver Grove Heights. Visitation 4-8 PM Wednesday, May 15th, at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave., IGH. Also 9-10 AM prior to Mass at church. Interment St. Patrick’s Church Cemetery.
Alitz, Vernice
Vernice Jane Alitz, age 88 of Inver Grove Heights, MN died peacefully on May 3, 2019.
She was born Feb 8, 1931 to Paul and Elna (Braatz). She attended St. Martin Lutheran School in Winona and was a 1949 graduate of Winona High School. Vernice married Reuben Alitz on April 28, 1951. They lived in Inver Grove Heights, MN and raised 3 sons. She worked for Inver Grove Heights School System for over 20 years. She was a faithful member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. Vernice’s greatest joy was spending time family. She also loved gardening, golfing, playing cards, and traveling with her siblings.
She is survived by her husband Reuben. Three sons Robert (Diane) Alitz of Maplewood, MN; Paul (Nancy) Alitz of Hastings, MN; and Richard (Liz) Alitz of Lake City, MN. Six grandchildren Ashley Alitz, Lauren (Nate) Meyer; Lisa (Jordan) Krause; Emily (Brenden) Smith; Matthew Alitz; and Hannah Alitz. Great grandaughter Scarlett Meyer and great grandson Conrad Meyer. Sister Irene Nerison of Maple Grove, sister in law Pat Ellinghuysen of Winona, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral Service will be on Friday May 10th at 11am with visitation 10-11 am at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 2075 70th Street East, Inver Grove Heights.

Passed away peacefully on April 30, 2019. Survived by loving husband of 54 years, Gene; son, Eugene Jr.; daughter, Bobbijean: grandchildren, Richard, Jessica & John; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters. Theresa & Angela; aunt, Clara; also many other relatives & friends. Faye loved her family, her Target friends and her cats. She will be dearly missed by all. Anderson, Joyce Anne
Joyce Anne Johnson passed March 31, 2019. She was born July 21, 1938. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Evelyn Ranum, as well as by her brother, Thomas Ranum. Joyce was very close to her beloved maternal grandmother, Anna. Joyce is survived by her sister Jean Wilken, and her immediate family, husband Charles Johnson, son James Johnson, his wife Betsy Johnson, and daughter Kari Johnson. Joyce was a very supportive mother who loved to be involved with her children’s lives, childhood and adulthood. Joyce was educated at Luther College in Iowa, where she received degrees in both sociology and elementary teaching. She was the first female student to receive two degrees. She taught for a few years but her main occupation was homemaker. Joyce and her husband were big proponents of education. While traveling, the Johnson children, even at a young age, were brought to numerous museums as a way to educate and introduce them to the world. Both adult children have attended law school, have advanced degrees. Their success in education is a direct result of good parenting. Joyce loved to travel when she was able and even attended travel agency school. She was also found of cats. Charles resides in a nearby nursing home. Joyce and Charles married in July 1965, had Jim in 1967, and Kari in 1970. Joyce worked hard as a mother during these times as Charles fought in Vietnam. Joyce will be remembered for her compassion, smile, and complete and utter love of her two children. She will be missed. Remembrance services will be held at a future date. Passed away unexpectedly on April 11, 2019. Preceded in death by parents, Albert & Nellie Fischer; brother, Howard. Survived by loving sons, Tom (Jen) & Brett (Bonita); grandchildren; Christian, Brooke, Kessler, Alec, Tyler, Sammy & Cheryl; great-grandchildren; Grayson & MacKenzie; brother; Albert (Bev); nieces and nephews, Debbie, Vickie, Heidi, John & Scott along with other loving relatives & friends. Bernie loved to play cards with family and friends. Loved to watch all her athletic grandchildren play their multiple sports and other events. She enjoyed going to the casino to play the slots and play a little bingo from time to time. Mostly she just loved to spend time with her family and friends. The family would like to invite you to join them for a Memorial Service at 1 PM Friday, April 26th at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 2075 70th St. E., Inver Grove Heights. Age 52
Passed away peacefully at home on April 12 after a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Preceded in death by father, James Gary; brother, Chuck. Survived by his wife and the love of his life, Stacy; mother, Mary; brothers, Jim, Bob (Jody), and Rick; nieces, Jessica (Cory), Ambber, Sophie, Kerry (Drew), Megan (Eric), Jill, and Brittany; nephews, Ryan (Jennifer), Ben, Brandon and Beau; great-niece, Hudson; great-nephew, Jameson; beloved Bernese mountain dog, Brody and many cherished extended family and friends. Scott was a proud 24-year employee at Waterous Company. He loved being from South Saint Paul, enjoyed playing guitar and was a huge MN hockey fan. He always had a smile on his face and this world will be a little less bright without him. We will forever be thankful to Scott’s care team at Regions Hospital including Dr. Dudek, Holly, Stephanie, Michele and his loving hospice nurse Jamie. A celebration of life service is planned for Saturday, April 20 at 11am, preceded by a Visitation at 9am at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Avenue, Inver Grove Heights.
