Mary Marjorie Reak died Saturday May 13th 2023, on the Feast Day of Our Lady of Fatima. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Mary was born Oct. 9th 1953, in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Louis and Marlys Schmitt. She grew up with a strong Catholic faith that she carried throughout her life. Mary had an eye for detail. She was an amazing sketch artist, painter, and floral designer. She enjoyed finding new, good, and old bakeries and restaurants to try. Mary loved planning parties and get togethers with family and friends. She was an amazing cook. Mary helped anyone in need, even strangers. She was always thinking about others and including everyone. She was an avid garage sale shopper and loved to buy and sell antiques. Mary blossomed each spring when she could spend time outside and work in her garden. Mary lived her life for God. She loved to share her Catholic faith with others. She frequented adoration, daily mass, and confession. She prayed with a special devotion to our Blessed Mother Mary. She prayed the Chaplet of Divine Mercy every day at 3pm, and the Rosary every night. She was devoted to her family, and was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was happiest spending time with her grandchildren and family. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Dale; her seven children: Matthew, Therese, Jessie (Andy) Burdick, Marguerite (Jeremy), Nicholas (Bobbi), David (Shannon), Joe (Krista); her 14 grandchildren: Kate, Jimmy, Joshua, Ella, John, Jack, Georgia, Cassius, Marlene, Alvina, Louisa, Loretta, Charlotte, and Benjamin; her siblings: Jenny Farrell, Paul Schmitt, Chris Schmitt, Ann Schmitt, James Schmitt, & Joseph Schmitt; also many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Marlys Schmitt; her baby sister Theresa Schmitt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18th, 2023, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 408 Third St N, South St. Paul, MN, with Fr. Altier officiating. Following mass, internment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery 2101 Lexington Ave S, Mendota Heights, MN. No visitation or luncheon will take place.
