Tammy June Baxter McKinnon passed away surrounded by loved ones at the University of MN hospital in Minneapolis, MN. She is survived by her husband, Dean McKinnon; parents, Richard and Carol Baxter; sister, Kathleen AlQabalani (husband Sam); nieces, Noor and Nadeen AlQabalani; sister, Julie Navas (husband Luis) and brother, Rich Baxter. She was also a stepmother to Justin, Tanner and Bryce McKinnon and grammy to Kansas, Colby and Camden McKinnon. She will be missed by many friends that she loved as family, as well as her four-legged companions, Chala, Niko, Bayly and Jayda.

As Richard and Carol’s first child, Tammy was born in Aurora, MN. She grew up in the lakeside town of Two Harbors, MN where she graduated high school. She studied at the University of MN Duluth and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Accounting from St. Thomas University in St. Paul, MN. After college, she worked for Minnesota Mutual Insurance Company and spent 20 years as an Accounting Manager at Wells Fargo. After retirement Tammy channeled her passion for creativity and opened her own small business, Aurora Apparel and Gifts, with her husband Dean. Her unique creations were a treasured gift for those lucky enough to receive them. Her talent also extended to hobbies like scrapbooking, gardening and baking. Tammy also loved to travel and spend summers at the family cabin, surrounded by those she treasured the most.

Tammy was courageous and lived life with an enthusiastic spirit. Those who knew her will remember her passion for 80’s music, hair bands and her favorite artist, Prince. She had a magnetic personality with a witty sense of humor that could make anyone smile. Her greatest legacy is the love she shared and the countless lives she touched with her compassionate heart. She was drawn to help others through whatever struggles they faced and was happy to lend a helping hand, no matter the need. We were all lucky to have her in our lives and we will miss her dearly. Just like her love for music, her song will continue on in our hearts forever.
