Passed away in his Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota home on July 21, 2021, at the age of 68. He left this world peacefully while surrounded by his closest family. Greg had been battling significant medical issues over the past year. Throughout it all, he demonstrated bravery and dignity. Greg was born on January 15, 1953, to Lloyd and Arlene Tanem in Thief River Falls. He spent most of his life in the Twin Cities area, ultimately settling down between South Saint Paul and Inver Grove Heights with his wife Paulette. He was industrious and dedicated at his work — most notably giving 25+ years to the City of Saint Paul. Anyone who met him would have been immediately struck by his imposing physical size. Anyone who got to know him quickly learned this was matched equally by his sincerity, generosity, and tenderness. It was often the sweet and simple things that Greg enjoyed most. The game of girl’s softball. A meal with comfort food. A trip to rural Iowa. More than anything, he wanted to be a loving and helping member of his family. He will forever be remembered fondly by his wife, Paulette; children, Jason (Jessica), Amy (Don), Anthony; stepchildren, Leah, Paul, Desiree (Michael); grandchildren, Hailey, Athena, Angelina, Ciel, Graham, Georgiana; and many other friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents. Greg wished to forgo a traditional funeral service. Instead, a celebration of his life and our great memories will be held at Drkula’s 32 Bowl (a favorite of his) on Sunday, August 8. Guests may visit from 11 AM to 2 PM. The facility address is 6710 Cahill Avenue, Inver Grove Heights, MN. Gifts or donations are not necessary.
