Age 88, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026.
Deanna was born on July 13, 1938, to Vern and Marcella Steiner. Throughout her life, she was known for her warm heart, generous spirit, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
Deanna was a devoted Catholic whose faith shaped the way she lived and cared for others. She found great joy in helping others, supporting her family, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved traveling with family and close friends and was an enthusiastic Elvis Presley fan, never missing an opportunity to enjoy his music. Whether through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or sharing stories with family and friends, she had a gift for making people feel loved and valued. Her caring heart, generous spirit, and deep love for family created a legacy that will continue through the many lives she touched. Deanna exemplified grace, strength, and kindness throughout her life and will be remembered as a woman who always placed the needs of others before her own.
Deanna is survived by her children, Anita Follmer, John (Lorena) Follmer, Robert Follmer Jr., Mary (David) Defren, and Michael (Heidi) Follmer; grandchildren Melissa, Jessica, Daniel, Mitchell, Adam, Nicholas, Marissa, Matthew (Rachel), and Jenna; great-grandchildren Maya, Julia, Gavin, Zane, Aleena, Andrew, Bailey, Jack, and Layla; and her sister, Rosemary Fritz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Follmer Sr.; her son, Stephen Follmer; her parents, Vern and Marcella Steiner; her brothers, Patrick “Pat” Steiner, Jerome “Jerry” Steiner, Gene Steiner, James “Jim” Steiner, and Francis Steiner; and her parents-in-law, John and Mary Follmer.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation, Mass of Christian Burial, and luncheon on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the Church of St. Patrick, 3535 72nd Street East, Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota 55076. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon and time of fellowship will immediately follow the service.
Interment will take place at a private family service at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on November 5, 2026.
Though her family will miss her dearly, they find comfort in knowing that her legacy of faith, love, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
