Lawrence “Larry” Richgels passed away suddenly on October 20th, 2026.
Born on November 12th, 1959, in West Saint Paul, Minnesota, Larry was the son of Eugene and Mary Richgels. Larry spent his childhood playing sports, playing in the marching band, or playing poker with the boys. Larry met the love of his life, Lori, in 1979, and from that moment on they were inseparable. They married on August 25, 1984, and began their life together. The last year without Lori was the most difficult of Larry’s life. Though they think he died of a heart attack, those who know him best think it was because he was heartbroken.
Larry graduated from Dakota County Technical College with a technical degree. He went on to have a career with Cummins Corporation as an accountant and eventually spent the last 20 years of his career at TMW Systems as a software trainer. When he retired in 2021, he started his favorite career of all, working at the golf course.
For all who knew him well, Larry was the most sensitive and kind father and brother. Growing up, he taught his sisters how to play poker, took them to Lutsen with the boys, and was an all-around great big brother. As he grew older, he loved traveling to soccer tournaments, playing golf with the boys, and riding around on his tractor with the grandkids. He also loved watching Minnesota sports, the History Channel, and pretending not to fall asleep on the couch with their dog, Franklin.
We will miss him dearly, but we know Larry is finally at peace in Heaven with his wife, Lori.
Larry is survived by his children, Bradley Richgels (Andrea), Thomas Richgels (Samantha), and Jillian Baxter (Adam); his cherished grandchildren, Annabelle and Benjamin Richgels, and future baby Baxter. He is also survived by his brother, Mike (Barb) Richgels; his sisters, Kathie (Terry) Wangerin and Mary (Scott) Peterson; and his sister-in-law, Bonnie Swanson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lori Richgels; his parents, Eugene and Mary Richgels; his brother, Pat Richgels; and his sister-in-law, Bobbie Niskala.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 29, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (6:00 p.m. prayer service) at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights.
