Ronald John Bergman, Age 95,

Was called home to eternal life on March 3. Born on February 13, 1931, in St. Paul to Joseph and Katherine Bergman.  Ron spent most of his life in South St. Paul, where he was deeply rooted in faith, family, and community.

On November 17, 1951, Ron married the love of his life, Margaret, with whom he shared a devoted marriage rooted in love, faith, and family. Together they built a life centered on devotion to one another and to family. Ron had many hobbies, including fishing, woodworking, and gardening.  But his favorite thing to do was just sit on the bench at the end of his dock, listen to loons and be at peace.

Ron served his country in the United States Army Signal Corps, stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He served honorably and was discharged with the rank of Corporal. Upon returning home, Ron worked at the packing house before dedicating the remainder of his working years as a firefighter for the City of South St. Paul, protecting others with quiet courage and steadfast commitment. Upon retirement as a firefighter he and Margaret travelled quite a bit – including trips to New Zealand, Germany, Ireland, Hawaii, Alaska and many states. Margaret always said that he had itchy feet.

Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret and his son Joseph, whom he now joyfully reunites with in God’s heavenly kingdom.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters, Kathleen, Terese (Bud), Nancy (Roger), Mary and son John; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren and good friend, June.
