Mary Joanne Bradley Engebretson, of Mahtomedi went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 5th. She was born in Port Arthur, Thunderbay Dist., Canada on June 4, 1933 to Clifford and Naomi “Amy” Bradley. She grew up as a “child of the woods” in Aitkin, MN. Hers was a solitary childhood as the much younger sibling of two sisters and a brother. The woods and lake were her playground and her dog, Brownie, her constant companion.

She was a life-long learner, avid reader, writer, artist, gardener and entrepreneur. There seemed to be nothing she couldn’t do from hunting and fishing to sewing, knitting, crochet, doll making, wedding cakes, refinish furniture, rewire lamps, and find beauty in all of God’s creation, including bugs and snakes – much to the delight of her grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Myron Engebretson; her sisters Lauretta Whipps and Delma “Naomi” Siers-Gruhlke; her brother Donald Bradley and her parents Clifford and “Amy” Bradley.

She is survived by three daughters Amy Engebretson, Dian Piekarski and Gale Martz; seven grandchildren Laura Hansen Smead, Jonathan Hansen, Sara Blanchard, Lynn Piekarski, Katie Sander, Greg Martz and Patricia Martz; 10 great grand children, Shaelyn and Corbin Smead, Lincoln, London and Lleyton Blanchard, John, Elizabeth, Stephanie and David Sander, Maximus Martz; and her last two cats – Pansy and Mini who have been adopted by family. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, especially Bradley Whipps (Eunice) who was a faithful pen pal and Christian influence and witness until the end.

Mary was a puzzle to many. Fiercely private and independent. Her heart never left the lake and woods of her youth. We will honor her request to be returned there in the Spring.

Bud was a US Air Force veteran. He served for 27 years as a South Saint Paul firefighter. Many times were spent hunting and fishing with good friends and enjoying dinner parties with Barb’s gourmet cooking. Their years together created a strong love which was felt by all their friends around them

Karol Marie Richardson, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 27^th, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Karol was born on April 29^th , 1940, in Albany township to loving parents Herman and Ann (Bauer) Weissinger. She was an older sister to LaVerne and Norma. Karol grew up on the family farm but was not a “farm girl.” She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Lima, Wisconsin. After school, Karol worked at several banks and at Inver Hills Community College.

Karol met her best friend and the love of her life, Don Richardson, at the Recreational Hall in Arkansaw, Wisconsin. While those around them didn’t understand how a gal from Durand could fall for a guy from Arkansaw, Karol and Don married on May 21, 1960, and had 61 wonderful years of marriage. Their first years together brought them to many parts of the Midwest—from Rochester, to St. Paul, and then South St. Paul.

In 1964, they bought their first home in Inver Grove Heights, where they lived for nearly 40 years. While there, they raised their two children, Kyle and Kay. Karol and Don created a lifetime’s worth of wonderful memories with their kids, from endless camping adventures in their pop-up camper and fifth wheel to many fun road trips.

After their kids were grown, Karol and Don continued to travel the world. Karol enjoyed joining Don in his drives across the country in his semi-truck. They made it to all 50 states together. The two of them went on many cruises and bus trips, but Karol’s favorite destination was Alaska.

Karol loved going out for a great meal at Red Lobster or Tinucci’s. She had a peculiar taste for snacky foods. Her favorites were Jelly Belly Jellybeans, Hot Tamales, microwave popcorn, and butter pretzels.

Karol cherished spending time with her family and was a loving grandma to Leah, Krista, and Jay. She spent her Tuesdays watching them and enjoyed hosting countless tea parties and morning bagel dates.  She also loved family time in Northern Minnesota. Some of her favorite activities there included sitting on a swing near the lake, reading books, and completing word searches.

Even after retiring, Karol and Don’s adventures continued. They built a home in Arkansaw, Wisconsin and lived there for 14 years. Karol worked as a lunch lady for the local elementary schools, and in her free time she enjoyed the wildlife surrounding their new home. Karol loved her rose garden and bird watching—especially for hummingbirds. She was even known to scare off a black bear or two by shouting “shoo” and waving a dishcloth! In 2018, Karol and Don moved back to Minnesota to be closer to family. While living in their townhome, Karol continued to give the mailman a workout delivering numerous catalogs.

Karol was preceded in death by parents, Herman and Ann Weissinger; and granddaughter, Krista Rolfzen.

She is survived by her loving husband, Don; son, Kyle; daughter, Kay (Mark) Rolfzen; grandchildren, Leah (Shane) DeSantis and Jay Rolfzen (Maria Gaertner); brother, LaVerne Weissinger; sister, Norma (Don) Pittman; several nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.

Karol was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma, and friend. She always had kind words and a smile for her loved ones and will be missed deeply by all that knew her. Her family takes comfort knowing there was a joyous reunion in Heaven between Karol, her parents, and her granddaughter Krista.

A celebration of life will be held from 1-3 PM, with a time for sharing memories at 2:30 PM on Saturday, November 6^th, at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights. The burial will be at a later date at the Arkansaw Memorial Cemetery in Wisconsin.

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sibling, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday October 28th, 2021. She leaves behind a loving husband, Bill Menz;, daughter, Sandy Koshenina; son, Scott Menz and daughter, Pam Robsahm; four grandchildren, Charlie Koshenina, Dawson Menz, Sean Robsahm and Zona Robsahm. Preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Ostrowski; grandchild, Caine “Kaydee” Koshenina; son-in-law, Paul Koshenina; and parents, William and Mary Leonard. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday, November 7th, with a visitation from 10:00 am-1:00 pm prior to the service at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave, Inver Grove Heights, MN. Passed away peacefully, at home surrounded by family, on October 24, 2021. Preceded in death by parents, Elaine and Carl. Survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Joyce; daughter, Amy Gustafson, her husband Jason and their children Abbie and Olivia; daughter, Kristi Berquist, her husband Michael and their children Makayla and Braeden; Son, Matt Miller, Erin Miller and their children Easton and Kellen. He also leaves behind many dear friends and family. Dennis worked as an accountant for Berger Transfer and Storage from 1988 – 2003. From 2003 – 2020 he was employed by Business Data Record Services. Dennis was happiest spending time with his family. They spent countless summer weekends together boating on the St. Croix River and camping on the Mississippi. Dennis and Joyce cherished their time spent on the beaches of Sanibel and Captiva Islands in Florida. He enjoyed fishing adventures at Wollaston Lake Lodge in Northern Canada. He took pride in his carefully manicured lawn, tending to his ponds and giving the younger grandkids the occasional ride on his lawn tractor. The last couple of summers he simply enjoyed being outside. He spent lots of time in his MN Gopher chair, taking in the warm summer sun and visiting with everyone that stopped by. His winter months were busy. Dennis would often be found at a hockey rink, popcorn in hand, cheering on his grandkids. He rarely missed a game. He loved the MN State Fair, apple picking in the fall and hunting down the perfect Christmas tree each year, always with the entire family in tow. Dennis will be remembered as a family man. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and Papa. He was generous with his time, always willing to lend a hand and provide his skill and knowledge for everyone elses projects. His humor will never be forgotten. He knew the perfect comment at just the right time and would leave everyone laughing. His uncontrollable laughter was contagious. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. A visitation is scheduled from 4 – 7 PM on Tuesday, November 2 at Roberts Funeral and Cremation Chapel, 8108 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11AM on Wednesday, November 3, with a brief visitation beginning at 10:30 AM, at St. Thomas Becket Catholic Church, 4455 South Robert Trail, Eagan. Joseph Erminio Anaya was born in Tucumcari, NM on September 21st, 1927, to parents Erminio and Isidora Anaya. In 1939, Joe’s family moved from New Mexico to the Midwest looking for work. His family eventually settled in St. Paul, Minnesota. Joe joined the US Army in September 1944 and served until June 1945, when he was Honorably discharged for service-connected disability. In 1956, Joe started working for Brown & Bigelow. He worked there for 17 years in the International Division. He worked as a supervisor in the domestic export section and later became the manager of the export traffic department and handled all credits/collections for the foreign division. His last position was as the Marketing Manager for the international division. He then moved on to work for the Metropolitan Economic Development Association (MEDA), where he assisted minorities who owned small businesses or who wanted to start a business. He helped minorities find funding and provided accounting and technical assistance. After MEDA, he worked for Martinez Mapping & Engineering as Vice President of Finance. Joe was responsible for all the company’s finances and ran the day-today projects and activities. After many years at Martinez, Joe retired. Joe was restless in retirement and after a year and a half, he went to work for the Minnesota Dept. of Motor Vehicles. He worked there for the next 15 years until finally retiring. Joe’s interest in helping the Mexican American community started with the Guadalupe Credit Union. There he held the position of Supervisory Chairman and then President and his last position there was Treasurer/Manager. The credit union was started to help Latinos and migrants obtain financing because they were unable to get loans from traditional banks. Joe also volunteered as Treasurer of the Concord Street Business Association (CSBA). Joe was also one of the founding members of the American GI Forum, a social organization started for Mexican American GIs. Its function was to provide services and assistance for the local Mexican American community. Meetings were held in the old Neighborhood House on the West Side of St. Paul. Events were held to raise funds for many projects on the West Side. He continued to be active in veteran organizations including a longstanding member of AMVETS Post 5 in Saint Paul, MN. Joe was very involved and active in campaigning for John F. Kennedy’s run for president. Due to his extensive involvement, he received an invitation to John F. Kennedy’s inauguration. Joe felt that a good education was very important. He had a fulfilling professional life and was an active volunteer utilizing his business skills. Throughout his years, his passions and hobbies were photography, big band and Mexican/Latin music. He loved watching baseball, football and soccer, and playing Golf. He also enjoyed travelling and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife Ludmila Anaya, his children Sally (Bill) AnayaBoyer, Elaine (Bob) Rishovd, Tatiana (John) Anaya, Joseph (Michelle) Anaya Jr, Dmitri (Brooke) Anaya, Karina Schneck and Lara (Travis) Hardy, Grandchildren Jeffrey (Ann) Anaya, Tina (Mike) Reed, Nico Anaya, Savelli Schneck, Sihaya Schneck, Merek Hardy, Maxim Anaya, Mila Hardy, Brielle Anaya, Great Grandchildren Nicole Anaya, Sarah Anaya, Alexander Anaya, Katherine Reed, Madeline Reed and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Erminio and Isidora Anaya, and siblings Luisa Anaya, Domitila Anaya, Ermelinda Gonzalez, Miguel Anaya and Marcelina Vasquez. Passed away on October 24, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Preceded in death by grandparents Adeline & Eugene Rothenberger and Walter “Bud” Oesterreich. Survived by husband Mike Terry; 3 children Autumn (Tyler Cook), Riley and Sierra Cooper; parents Robin & Fred; sister Melissa (Andy) Lawrence; brothers Brad, Tim and Nate (Krystina); 2 nephews, 6 nieces; Grandmother Marlene Oesterreich and in-law’s Judy & Larry Terry; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

After graduating from Tartan High School, Carrie proudly served her country in the United States Army Reserve, during which time she was deployed to Guantanamo Bay and later honorably discharged. She was a loving daughter, mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend and will be missed by all those who were lucky enough to be a part of her life.
