Passed away unexpectedly September 1, 2019.

Jake was a senior at the University of Minnesota – Duluth.  He was on track to graduate in the Spring of 2020 with a degree specializing in Marketing Analytics. He loved family, the outdoors, sports, and his puppies Buddy and Ollie. Jake had an amazing charisma that easily drew others to him.  With his unique wit, he put a smile on everyone’s face. Jake tried to make everyone feel good about themselves.  He brought out the best in others and was a bright light in a sometimes challenging world. Preceded in death by grandparents, Richard Johnson and Lois Lavoie. Survived by loving parents, Craig and Jane; brother, Nate; sister, Kaila; grandparents, Don Lavoie and Twyla Johnson; aunts and uncles, Kevin (Peg) Lavoie, Karla (Richard) Meikle, David (Terrie) Johnson, Paul Johnson (Kim Nordaune); cousins, Bob (Diane) Lavoie, Melissa Lavoie (Chad Grant), Korbin Lavoie , James Powell, Sydney Powell, Justin Meikle, Erin Meikle; also many friends. Memorial Service 11 AM Saturday, September 14^th, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7600 Cahill Ave., Inver Grove Heights. Visitation 4-7 PM Friday, September 13^th, at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave. Inver Grove Heights. Also 10-11 AM prior to the service at church. In Lieu of flowers memorials preferred.

Age 89 of Inver Grove Heights, MN

Died peacefully on August 21, 2019. He was born October 13, 1929 to Alvin and Selma Alitz and grew up on their farm in Altura, MN.  He was a 1947 graduate of Lewiston-Altura High School. Reuben served in the United States Army after WWII and before the Korean War.  Reuben married Vernice Ellinghuysen on April 28, 1951. They lived in Inver Grove Heights, MN and raised 3 sons. He worked as a high school math teacher for at Park High School in Cottage Grove and also coached football, basketball and track. He was a faithful member of Emanuel Lutheran Church for over 60 years. Reuben was avid bowler and bowled in several leagues over 30 years. He loved spending time at the family farm. Reuben is survived by three sons, Robert (Diane) Alitz of Maplewood, MN, Paul (Nancy) Alitz of Hastings, MN, and Richard (Liz) Alitz of Lake City, MN; six grandchildren, Ashley Alitz, Lauren (Nate) Meyer, Lisa (Jordan) Krause, Emily (Brendon) Smith, Matthew Alitz, and Hannah Alitz; great-grandchildren, Scarlett Meyer & Conrad Meyer; sister-in-law, Irene Nerison of Maple Grove as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral Service 4:00 pm Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 2075 70th St. E., Inver Grove Heights, MN. Visitation 2-4 pm prior to the service. Interment Emanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Luncheon following the service.

Loved taking care of his boy hood farm he kept that place “neat as a pin” and loved it when friends and family would stop by.

Liked to monitor the stock market.  He would track number of shares and prices and write them down on slips of paper.  He had thousands of slips of paper with micro number on both sides … I’m sure this kept his mid sharp.  He did crossword puzzles for years also. And liked to read.

Used to have lots of bridge parties played bridge with his wife and friends

Liked his pick-up trucks, had several over the years, He was a Ford guy.

Raised in Altura on a farm.  Very active in the Lewiston high school committees and sports

“A Little Mother”

Marlene was born May 31^st, 1935 in St. Paul, MN.  On Sunday evening, July 28^th, 2019 the angels came and carried her away while surrounded by her family, and she was joyfully reunited and welcomed at the gates of heaven by her dear mother and father, Deloros and Vernon Nyman; her brothers, Bill and Dave Nyman; step-mother, Helen Nyman and many other family members and friends. There is not room enough to tell everything she was to us.  She was a beautiful and devoted wife to her husband, Mike and everything you could ask for in a mother to her seven daughters, Maureen (Jim) Sexton, Colleen (Ward) Wallin, Sharon Lemke, Margaret (Bill) Roszak, Mary Kaye (Sean) Bagge, Molly (Mike) Dexter and Leah (Ron) Riehle. She was “Nana” to, and will be lovingly missed by her 16 grandchildren, Meghan (Derrick) Hosmer, Rachael Sexton; Ian and Ero Wallin; Kayla (Tony) Agbara, Emily (Derek) Tuley and Ryan Lemke; Annie, Jake and Sara Roszak; Michael (Cayleigh) Deller and Aidan Bagge; Bailey and Gracie Dexter; Hailey and Hunter Riehle; 2 great-grandchildren, Emma Kay and Addie James Hosmer. She was amazingly resilient, endured hard times with grace and poise, and turned them quickly into good times and wonderful memories.  She taught us the values of strong faith, unconditional love, courageous spirit, forgiveness, compassion, and that hospitality is no small thing.  She was an avid, avid Twins fan, even naming her fish “Buxton”!  She loved to sew, was a long-time member of The Church of St. Patrick, and never missed a sporting event or band concert for the seven of us! Marlene attended Humboldt High School and Technical College in St. Paul, and worked at Minnesota Pipeline, Divine Redeemer Hospital and the City of Inver Grove Heights.  While it is extremely difficult to express how devastating it is to lose our dear wife and mother, our family remains so very grateful to have been blessed with such a wonderful example who touched so many lives as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, dear cousin, aunt and beloved friend. We wish to express our thanks and gratitude to Southview TCU and to Allina Hospice for their wonderful care and support.  A visitation will be held Thursday, August 1^st from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home,8108 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights and on Friday, August 2nd, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at The Church of St. Patrick 3535 72^nd St. IGH, followed by a Celebration of Life Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.

Preceded in death by grandparents; brother-in-law, Jeffrey Roach; sister-in-law, Sarah Hanson; Survived by wife, Amy (nee Hanson), daughters, Sarah & Lexi; parents, Paul & Mickey; brother, Tom (Cari); sister, Laurie Roach; In-laws, Tim & Jane Hanson; sister-in-law, Katie (Chris) Goralski; also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.  Gathering of Family & Friends will be held from 4-7 pm on Thursday, July 25^th, at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Avenue, Inver Grove Heights.
