Age 80 of South St. Paul

Passed away on October 3, 2019. Preceded in death by husband, Arthur; brother, Gary; sister, Marlene. Survived by son, Terrence (Karen); daughter, Traci (Tony); granddaughters, Deanne (Jesse), Dawn (Anthony), Danielle (Dave) & Quinn (Corrin); many grandchildren; siblings, Donald (Cathy), Charles (Marolyn), Jean & Daniel (Gloria). Judi was a longtime employee of Safe Way Bus Company. A Celebration of Judi’s Life will be held from 4-8 PM Thursday, October 10^th, with a time of sharing beginning at 7 PM at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights.

Donna Haugen born June 11, 1942, raised in Dimock, SD, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in her home on September 25, 2019. Survived by daughters, Ann Haugen Madsen, Joy Haugen (Nick Darby); granddaughter, Brooklyn Brianna; brother, Gerald “Jerry” (Barbara) Weber, their seven children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and members of the Hoffmann and Darby families. Preceded in death by parents, Bernard “Ben” Weber, Anna (nee Sommer) Weber, Henrietta (nee Schulte) Weber; and members of the Hoffmann family. Let us join to “Live, Laugh, Love” in celebration of Donna. Visitation 3-6PM Sunday, October 13^th, with Prayer Service and Tribute 5PM. Age 84 of South St. Paul,

Passed away September 25, 2019 at United Hospital in Saint Paul, MN. Preceded in death by his wife, Marion, parents Martin & Mary Novotny, and siblings, Stella Vlasak, Marty Novotny, Millie Morin, and sister-in-law Donna Beckers. Survived by his children, Roxie (Greg) Kronick, Roger (Rose) Novotny, and Scott (Amy) Novotny; grandchildren, Bob & Dan Kronick, Trent (Chelsey), Shaina, Nicole, Bridget, Olivia, and Nate Novotny, great-grandchildren, Cooper, Brody and Alexis; siblings, Richard (Evelyn) Novotny, Alfred Novotny, Gladys Mader, and brothers-in-law, Joe Beckers and Leonard (Betty) Cavanaugh; also by other loving relatives and friends. Gillard was born on October 16, 1934, to Martin A. and Mary L. (Franek) Novotny in Helena Township in rural New Prague. He married Marion Elizabeth Cavanaugh on September 30, 1954, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, MN.  They enjoyed 63 years of marriage. In his younger years, Gillard worked as a farmer. Once he left the farm, he worked at Cargill unloading the grain bins. After a short time, he left Cargill and went to work for Armour Company in South Saint Paul. Armour soon offered him an opportunity to attend Dunwoody Institute and get a trade’s job. Taking his employer up on this offer, he began his education to become an Electrician. Gillard was a member of Local 292 IBEW Electrical Workers. Gil retired on February 28, 1997 at age 62, after working for 47 years. Also during this time, Gillard proudly served in the United States Army Reserves for eight years, from 1952-1960. Gillard was a role model for hard-work.  He enjoyed good health his entire life, up until August 2019, when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer He was always a man on the move from the time he was born. Never one to be idle.  Gillard never stopped moving, and continued to walk each day around his beloved neighborhood. Some of Gillard’s hobbies and interests included going up North to his Sullivan Lake cabin, water-skiing, polka music, casinos, spending time with his children, and grandchildren. He also loved to tinker in the garage, and could fix anything. He was always willing to help family and others. Gillard also loved to drive, travel and take trips with friends & family. He visited 43 states with his wife, Marion. He recently went on a special trip to see Molly B at the Carver County Fair, and the MN Twins Home Opener ballgame. Gillard loved polka music, and watching the old time country shows on TV. Gillard set a strong example of a life well-lived.  As Thomas Jefferson said, “Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal.” Gillard was such a man. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at St John Vianney Catholic Church, 840 19^th Ave No., South St. Paul, MN. Visitation is one hour prior to Mass at the church.  Luncheon to follow at the church in the Mother Teresa room following mass. Private Interment Oak Hill Cemetery, South St. Paul, MN.  In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.

Age 87 of Inver Grove Heights.

Passed away peacefully on September 23, 2019. Preceded in death by husband, Roger; parents, Edward & Agnes Algren; sister, Shirley Benson. Survived by children, Chuck (Linda), Lori & Edward (Lorene); 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral Service 1 PM Thursday, September 26^th, at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment Acacia Park Cemetery.

Glenn Bauman, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 88.  Glenn was an active member of the West St. Paul Commercial Club, West St. Paul Businessmen’s Association and worked at Nobel’s and American Can as a tool and die maker until his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jean (Fischer); sons, Bryan (Buzz) & Bruce; daughter, Ginger Vance; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Glenn and Jean lived in Inver Grove Heights for more than 50 years. Glenn loved hunting in the fall, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends and many say he will be remembered for his humor and friendliness. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Tuesday, September 24^th, at the Church of St. Matthew, 490 Hall Ave., St. Paul. Visitation 4-7 PM Monday, Sept. 23^rd, at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights. Also 10-11 AM prior to Mass at church. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to St. Matthews Church.

Age 89, formerly of Inver Grove Heights and Frederic, WI

Passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Raymond and sister, Jeanette (Jan) Crandall. In her youth Doris was a 10-year member of the Salem 4-H club. She exhibited her prize lamb, Sugar Foot and ribbon-winning canning at the Dakota County Fair and MN State Fair. She loved to cook and as a very young girl learned to make homemade cornstarch pudding which she carried to her grandpa on the adjoining farm. Doris graduated from SSP High School in 1948 and then worked at Farmers Union where she met some of her dearest lifelong friends. She was swept off her feet by a handsome, hardworking young man she met at a dance. They were soon married, and that man with the twinkling eyes kept her dancing for 65 years. They were charter members of Concordia Lutheran Church, SSP where they volunteered in multiple capacities to serve their faith community. She was a gracious hostess who is remembered for her ‘good cooking’ by family and friends. During retirement Doris and her husband relocated to Frederic, WI where they resided on a small hobby farm. They could be found at the local farmer’s market providing fresh vegetables and fruits to the area residents. She kept herself busy as church treasurer, family correspondent, grandmother figure to the neighboring children and cooking up a storm for gatherings of family and friends. Doris was the family historian who could remember every date, every name, and every event. She clipped and mailed memorabilia to friends and family and enjoyed re-reading greeting cards. She was a strong, industrious, intelligent woman with the resiliency and tenacity to persist through life events. She was determined and courageous, and remembered for her warmth, cute smile and sharp wit. She is survived by six children, Kenneth (Jeanne), Kim (Monica), Laurel, Lisa (Brad Lojovich), Lance (Donna), Kevin; 9 grandchildren, Jason (Amy), HollyAnne, Christopher, Jeffrey, Daniel, Theodore, Heather, Matthew & Aaron; 2 greats, Allison & Joshua; brother, E. Wesley Wille. The children would like to thank the caregivers and staff of Lyngblomsten Koller neighborhood as well as the Lyngblomsten apartments for the loving care they gave our mother. Funeral Service Friday, September 27^th, at 3 PM with visitation 1 hour prior to service at Lyngblomsten Chapel, 1415 Almond Ave., St. Paul, 55108. Memorials preferred to Lyngblomsten Foundation or donor’s choice.
